“A really terrific hotel”

We were here for a hockey tournament, so this was a "have to go" situation. Lake George in the winter is an interesting experience by itself. Most of what is there is seasonal and closed in January. Having taken a close look at what's there, I am confident that there is no better place to stay than this Holiday Inn. You may think (as I did) that their prices are high for mid-winter in the middle of nowhere, with little or no occupancy. But the other choices for only slightly less money are well below this hotel in quality. Well below.

We reserved the Holiday Inn expecting ... well, a Holiday Inn. But this place is so much better. It is new, or at least recently renovated. It is very comfortable and inviting. The bed was the most comfortable I've slept in over many recent hotel stays. They serve freshly baked cookies in the afternoon in the lobby, together with hot chocolate and peppermint schnapps if you are so inclined! There is an indoor pool and an outdoor hot tub. One thing that's important to me in a hotel is cleanliness, and this place lives up to my standards very nicely.

The very reasonably priced lakeview suites give you a gorgeous view of Lake George. The staff is also friendly and attentive. They cheerfully gave us a late checkout 2 hours past the normal checkout time.

I would certainly stay here again.

We had a Poolview balcony 2 Queen Beds. The view of the lake was nice and the room was plenty big for 4 of us, including two kids. Restaurant was great, pool was good, hot tub was great. We had a good time.

Room Tip: Poolview balcony gives view of the lake also.

“What a surprise!!! Was GREAT!”

Stayed 2 nights for New Year's and thought the hotel was GREAT. Kudos to Mike the GM and staff. Beautiful facility. The room was spacious, the restaurant was very reasonable, the bar was great. Bob the bartender was terrific. The pool was a good size and warm enough and had a very nice outdoor hot tub. The hotel did a very good job entertaining kids for the New Year (although we didn't have any kids, our friends did). Didn't really like them running around the hallways but we lived with it. The view of the lake was amazing. You also have a choice of pillows!!!
Very convenient to everywhere. No valet parking charges, easy parking, a refrigerator in the room, great bed, a very good safe.......so the bathroom was just a little small.......a very good hotel!

“A Great place to celebrate the New Year!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

New Year's Eve was a great time to be at the Holiday Inn in Lake George! I hadn't stayed there for about 10 years and was excited to see any changes to the hotel. I actually wouldn't have known it was the same place. Extensive renovations have brought this hotel totally up to date. Our room ( more like a suite) was clean, well stocked, and appointed with the nicest touches, right down to the bathroom ammenities! Granite in the bathroom and kitchen area, a variety of pillows to choose from on the beds, 2 flat screen tvs and a balcony that over looked the lake all added to the decor.
We arrived mid afternoon on New Year's Eve to find a large number of under 12 year olds running around doing a scavenger hunt. Their excitement was addicting! We were given a whole list of family activities that went on all day to add to the festivites. The high point of the night was champagne at the fire pit at midniight followed by an impressive display of fireworks over the Lake.
I can honestly say the staff was up to the challenge of what appeared to be a full house. The manager was out and about at all times on Saturday night and again on Sunday. Although he was busy, he also didn't hesitate to stop and greet the guests. The staff seemed busy but not stressed and all greeted us with a friendly hello in the halls. The activities included a magician, the previosly mentioned scavenger hunt, a Guitar Hero Contest, kids pajama party, and an arts and crafts event.
We stopped by TR's lounge for a drink before heading out to dinner and found a fun party atmosphere complete with free chicken wings.
At 1130 we met outside at the fireplace and were given 3d glasses to watch the firworks . An employee was passing out the champagne drinks to the adults. It was fun to share the excitement with everyone around!
I was also impressed with the wonderful display of Christmas trees and decorations located throughout the hotel. It is sometimes hard to travel at the holidays to a hotel that doesnt make the effort to decorate. The Holiday Inn had a gorgeous tree in the lobby that must have been over 12 feet tall, and several located in hallways and sitting areas around the hotel. The decorations were tastefully done and really added to the holiday atmosphere.
I must admit I dont usually look for a Holiday Inn while traveling, but this one was over the top of my expectations and I would surely book here again!

Room Tip: Lake view is always a good choice!

“Cozy, beautiful hotel with scenic view of mountains”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

The first thing my boyfriend and I looked at to enhance our Fall, weekend getaway to Lake George, NY was a nice hotel. The price was reasonable and this hotel looked beautiful, but the pictures can't even compare to how nice it looked when we arrived. The adirondack region of NY is gorgeous, and if you take a trip to Lake George in late Fall, it's off-season, so there isn't too much to do and it doesn't get busy. However, it is a perfect time to spent a romantic, relaxing time away, and the scenery is incredible. If you get a room with a view, it will add to your stay. We opened the windows in the morning to look at the mountains, and it was truly a sight to see.

This hotel is big, the rooms are clean and beautiful, and the beds are very comfortable. You have your choice of what pillow you prefer to sleep on, extra soft or firm, and when you first arrive, there is a little towel pet to greet you on your bed (not a real animal of course!) The best part about this hotel for us was its cozy nature. It was very cold the weekend that we stayed there, and this hotel had a fire pit outside along with a fireplace inside in the lobby with chairs all around. This hotel was exactly what we were looking for, and it would be a great stay for whatever season you decide to vacation. You will even get to enjoy the outdoor pool/activities in the summer, but there is also the indoor pool (we didn't get to try this out). The breakfast is delicious and you can get a room that includes vouchers for breakfast, which is definitely worth it! This hotel was exactly what we were looking for to make our weekend even more special.
