The Wyndham Lake George has nice comfortable beds, good TV, excellent location near the exit and on the main drag above the tourist Lake George strip. It has a pretty decent breakfast buffet you can make your own waffles, it has eggs the meat of the day bacon or sausage and other typical bread choices. We took he kids and we went skiing at nearby Gore Mountain for a couple of days. They liked the whole Lake George area. Gore was nice to ski at too. The pool was nice the water temp could be kept a little warmer and the hot tub was a bit frothy but overall the hotel is fairly new I think it's only one or two years old. I give this place a big thumbs up to stay at. Warning Lake George in the winte has very few places to eat out at--this tourist town literally shuts down even the McDonald's closes for the winter! All the restaurants are in Queensbury about 5-10 minutes away. We ate at a sports/family restaraunt called O'Toole's great bar food type of place.

My wife and I have always preferred to stay in Hampton Inn's since they are very consistent, with clean, comfortable beds. However, they seem to be very popular, driving up their prices to levels where they are no longer a good value. We decided this time to try a Wingate, which was reasonably priced and in the same general class of hotel.

This Wingate is easy to find, not far off I-87, and located near Lake George Village. The lobby is very nice, and the staff was excellent. Our room was outstanding, with on-demand movies, a fridge and a microwave, amenities not always found at a Hampton. The room was large, spotlessly clean, and given an excellent rate, we felt we had a winner. At that point, I would have rated the hotel 5 stars.

Until we went to sleep.

The bed was horrible. Viciously uncomfortable. If we had booked more than one night, we would have to had checked out. Even my wife, who can sleep on anything, woke up complaining of a sore back. The bed was hard as a rock and you could feel the springs. I'm sorry, but the rest of the positives don't mean a thing if the sleep is terrible. I simply cannot believe a franchisee would invest in such a nice property, then fail in the biggest possible way.

We booked this hotel for one night. At the same time a hockey group of young boys (50% of the rooms) were here too. From the time we checked in (our room was avail early afternoon) there were boys playing hockey in the hall outside our door, yelling & screaming, running up & down the hall & slamming doors. No adult supervision from their parents or from hotel staff. We later learned "quiet time" for the hotel doesn"t start until 10 p.m. So until then all that noise & disturbing other guests was acceptable by this hotel. Lodging a complaint we were offered 25% off our bill (we checked out at 9:30 p.m. and went to another hotel); at corporate level NADA!!!
