“Loved It!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

We stayed here in the spring of 2011 and loved it! We intended to stay for 1 night and ended up staying one more. The food was amazing, and the atmosphere was so romantic. Even though it was still cold in the evenings we sat outside both nights and the staff made a blazing fire in the most incredible outdoor fireplace. We are planning to return again this spring.

It is a unique "hotel" that feels intimate, personal and very special. Food was excellent, and we were encouraged to speak to the chef and check out the kitchen. Staff were accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable. It was a real pleasure to be here.

Room Tip: go online and look at the rooms, your choice of fireplace, whirlpool, sitting area, view. All rooms...

“October at Erlowest”

An Incredibly beautiful Inn, with 10 rooms and function room as well as dining rooms.
The first floor patio has an outdoor fireplace that has Lake George for a backdrop, A second floor patio is more private and overlooks the lake as well. 2 weddings were going on while I was there, you wouldn't have known it . Although attached to the Inn it was seperate enough. My package included dinner and continental breakfast. The breakfast is keeping it from 4 stars. Mushy fruit and cold toast don't cut it. The blackberry merlot sorbet at dinner made up for it as did the pumpkin raviolis, and hanger steak and an extensive wine (easily over 300 to choose from) list should cover anyone's taste The bar off the (lobby?) was intimate and welcoming. The room was spacious, with opening windows, a gas fireplace, and one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. The bathroom was huge and had a jetted tub. Would love to return, the locals were friendly and offered great tips for seeing things not quite on the "tourist" list!! Best of all no phones in the room.

Room Tip: Don't think there's a bad one...

“Enchanting Erlowest”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

We were able to book an Escape Package at the Erlowest that included room, three course dinner, and the other amenities included with the room (bottle of wine with cheese plate upon arrival and continental breakfast). We had our choice of three rooms when I called, and I am thrilled that the Shepard was a perfect choice for us.

Our server at dinner, Zack, was pleasant, well-informed and efficient. Presentation of food was beautiful and the menu choices were plentiful. And, while all the food was delicious, it lacked what I call the "nom-nom factor". Nevertheless, the setting and total experience were quite enjoyable.

We found our room and the partial lake-view to be quite charming; loved the two-person jacuzzi, abundance of towels and quite nice toiletries; thoroughly enjoyed the reisling (instead of champagne) and cheese platter; we were grateful for the very nice front-desk person who prepared (twice) a beautifully prepared coffee service for us to enjoy in our room several hours before breakfast was served.

The Inn at Erlowest seems to have a great attention to detail--it is apparent throughout the physical property as well as in the genuinely friendly attitudes of all of the staff members we encountered.

We are looking forward to returning to the Inn next year!

Room Tip: Choose a room with a lake view!

“Wonderful!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2011

Stayed at the Inn at Erlowest as a pre-wedding decompression getaway. We stayed in the Montcalm room, which had a private balcony overlooking the lake, as well as a spa tub and fireplace. We felt like royalty. Some of the decor could use some updating, but it's just minor stuff. The staff was friendly and helpful, ensuring that my fiance was able to get his morning coffee before the kitchen opened and taking care of anything we needed. The view from our room was spectacular. Only complaint was the wedding on the second night-- they had their after party on the patio below ours until all hours of the night which kept me awake pretty much the whole night. Would have been nice to be informed of that beforehand, or for there to be quiet hours for that section of hotel, since it is a small place.

The restaurant was amazing, and Zack, our server, was so knowledgeable and accommodating to our special dietary restrictions. He was attentive and careful, and I recommend asking for him if you book a reservation. The food was awesome, even just the continental breakfast-- the blueberry muffins are something to be missed.

Prices are a bit high, but overall, it was a nice getaway and we would definitely stay again. Just keep in mind that this is an OLD building, with some OLD features (like old air units). If you're into that, this is the place for you.

Room Tip: Ask for the Montcalm room for a private balcony overlooking the lake.
