“Loved the price but not the quality”

My family and I stayed at the family suite at Prospect Aire Motel for 4 days. For $169.00 a night you couldn't beat 2 rooms 3 full beds and a twin, plus a kitchenette. We were offered a free continental breakfast for the entire family. TV and Wall A/C Unit were included. We were able to save money on dining by cooking at home. We didn't even have to drive to town because we were only a few blocks away from all the action. In addition we had discount tickets at the local water park. However, below are some of the items missing at this motel . If your only concern is price and convenience of motel location, then these items may not discourage you from going to this motel. These items were:
1) Cleanliness - The rugs left black dirt marks on the bottoms of our feet. Kitchenette had an uncleaness to it (old sponge, no soap, old flatware and toaster). Cobwebs behind furniture.
2) No elevator - Carrying luggage to the 2nd floor and strollers was difficult.
3) No room service; (no food service or daily maid service). There wasn't even a broom or vacuum for us to clean our own room.
4) One bathroom for 7 people
5) Security - Didn't feel safe due to 2 outside entrances; children could easily leave.
6) Parking was tight.
7) No pool.
8) No lounge
9) No indoor activities
10) No data port
11) No telephone
12) Basic TV stations
13) Mattresses were not comfortable and didn't smell clean.
14) Room had musty smell.
15) Central Air

Now if cleanliness and amenites are not necessary for your stay, and all you are concerned with is price, then this motel is a great place to stay if all you want to do is sleep (and even that won't be too comfortable because of the mattresses). On a good note, the owner Carol seems very nice and I'm sure she would lend you a couple extra towels every day and a broom if you asked for it. Really folks if you are trying to get away with a lot of people and can't afford it, you should still consider it.

Since this guest stayed with us 2 years ago, we have installed new carpets, queen and king sized beds, and provide maid service. All guests are informed of our amenities and we do not misrepresent our property. However, we do offer a great location, price and friendly service.

“We'd do it again”

We just got back to CT from a nice stay at the Prospect Aire Motel. My family group rented two rooms and the cottage. The place was very clean and Carol was a wonderful and friendly hostess. The hotel is in a quiet location but just a short walk to the village. You can save parking fees by leaving your car at the motel. Our teenage kids walked to the village themselves as a group and we were all comfortable with that. The price was reasonable for our 3-day stay. Thank you Carol for your hospitality and hard work. None of us had any complaints about the Prospect Aire Motel.

“Great value, loved the place, would stay there again”

Stayed at the Prospect Aire in July. Would highly recommend it. Great service, very clean. Would definitely stay there again, location was perfect off the strip but within 2 blocks of everything. It is perfect for travelers on a budget. Room was very clean. It was exactly as I expected.

“No Bargain”

We chose this motel based upon the reviews we read here. We now wish we had spent some time looking at other places first. I think we could have found a better room for a comparable price. The location was perfect - easy walk to shops, restaurants and beach, but off the main street. The room itself was clean, there were plenty of towels and might have been ok if all you wanted was a place to sleep. It was not a comfortable place to spend any more time than that. There was a musty, slightly moldy smell, a stain on the carpet, no comfortable seating (just the bed and 2 chairs at a small dining table). The bed was old, mattress thin and soft. The TV was old, the bedding was very worn. The kitchenette was a counter within 4 feet of the bed. There was no closet and the only place to hang any clothes was a rack just inside the door and over the dresser and TV. The breakfast was a disappointment: poptarts, English muffins, frozen grocery-store bagels, orange juice and coffee. The coffee was the only item freshly prepared.
We had booked the room for 3 nights, prepaid one and were required to pay in full at check-in, something we had never had to do at other places. We were travelling on motorcycle and came despite a risky forecast. We decided to leave after 1 night based on weather reports. I inquired about the possibility of a refund when we checked out and Carol got angry, pointing out that the receipt said no refunds. She was right, it did, but you get the receipt AFTER you pay; would have been nice if she had told us before we paid! I asked about splitting the difference, paying for 1 of the 2 remaining nights but she wouldn't discuss it. Sure wish we hadn't blindly prepaid, there were vacancies all over town.

“Location Location Location! and Peace and Quiet too!”

Listen; if you are the type who wants a full service resort with a pool and all the noise and craziness of being right on the "strip" in Lake George then this is not the place for you. BUT if you are like my Family and like to be close to the action but want to get away from it whenever you wish (a block away to be exact) ~ prospect aire would be a good choice for you. It’s kind of like a small motel and a B&B got married and had a baby. You have hosts who know your name and can give you advice about where to go and actually tell you where things are. AND you have a nice private clean room at a VERY reasonable price for Lake George in the summer. Some affordable places around Lake George Village are so far away you can't really walk it........ but here The location couldn't be better ~ You can walk to town and the Beach. Carol makes great coffee. The Breakfast is "continental" style so if you want something more extensive you can go to the pancake house easy walking distance OR if you just want a little something to start off the day with what Carol has out is more than sufficient. We also had a room with a kitchenette which is a big ++ when you are traveling with a kid. Like I said we have stayed here twice and will stay again next trip to Lake George.
