“One of the worst hotels ever”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

Reviewed April 18, 2006

I haven't stayed in many worse hotels in 30 years of frequent traveling. The room was old and grimy. The toilet overflowed, and when I asked for help from the person at the desk, he just pointed me to the plunger located in the men's bathroom in the lobby. I used that, but it didn't work very well, so we ended up using the bathroom in the lobby for the rest of our (short) stay. I wouldn't go back even if it were half the price.

“Drive by and stop at another hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

This hotel is old and not kept up. We asked for a non-smoking room and received one only to discover the smell of smoke in the room. Our reservation requested a first floor room but were told non were available. With so few cars in the lot one has to wonder why there were no open rooms. No breakfast offered other than a restaurant.

“Quality "Bed Bugs" Inn”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

I should have been tipped off when my boyfriend and I were placed in a "non" smoking room that was obviously a smoking room. The not so friendly staff agreed to move us to another room. The smell of urine in NYC streets was far more appetizing than the "Quality" smell in the hallway and our room. However, we stuck it out seeing as how we were in town for only a night to enjoy the foliage. That one night led to a bed bug feast. The next day we woke to several bites on our arms, neck and shoulder. My boyfriend had bites on his head! When I spoke to the manager, his response was an "oh well" kind of attitude. I felt like I was dealing with Homer Simpson on a doughnut break as the power plant is having a meltdown. Usually the reference would be "flea bag" hotel, nope, this is a BED BUG hotel. Save yourselves the aggravation. What I paid for that overpriced dump should be used towards an extermination.

In response to this review , I would like to say that we run a clean hotel. The guest was put in Non-smoking room, unfortunately the person before smoked in an non-smoking room. The most important thing about the Bed bug issue is that , the Room has been sold to other guests numerous times before and after and we have not nor have we had since, a single complaint about bed bugs. We do take this issue very seriously and that is why we have a Preventive Plan in place.

“you're better off sleeping in your car”

I was here with my mom and she was far too nice and polite to the rude people at the desk who wouldn't honor our request for a non-smoking room (they said they had one for one night only). VERY expensive for a place with holes in the ceiling plaster, rippled and nasty carpet, peeling wallpaper, warped doors that didn't fully close (they latched and locked but there was a major gap at the top) and, as I mentioned, rude staff with a lackadaisical attitude towards reservations.

The room seemed about as clean as it could have been, considering, but it was musty and there were cigarette burns in one of the blankets in our "non-smoking" room.

It is very accessible to I-87 which is helpful for you to drive away from here very quickly. I can't comment on other hotels in Kingston because this is actually too close to home for me to normally use a hotel. My mom just thought it would be more convenient to stay close to a weekend event, but in a choice between staying here vs 2 hours each way of extra driving in the morning and evening, the driving wins hands down, which is what we did for our other days of her event.

Room Tip: Reading other reviews and looking at our own experiences, I think the only good rooms would be the o...

“Far too over priced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2011

I read some of the other reviews and I didn't find the hotel *that* bad, as perhaps I had a room in a different wing (section 5) but I have to say that it is really over priced for what you get and the place is not really up to the standard of any other Quality Inn I've stayed in.
I went here because I tried to stay at the nearby Holiday Inn but it was booked for Labor Day weekend 2011 , so ended up here. The place is very old and pretty run down. The room had a lot of water damage, and I agree with the other reviewers that the a/c had a very musty smell. It was "ok enough" for my one night in Woodstock, though; the beds were clean and the bathroom was clean. My sister used the pool which was only adequate, it had a lot of damage that they were repairing at the time yet they had it open anyway (?). But, she said it was "fine enough" for a quick morning dip.
We ate breakfast at the attached restaurant only because my sis wanted to grab a quick bite and go - and the restaurant was also just below average, but high priced. The restaurant itself was also old and in disrepair in the some places but the staff was helpful and the food was probably a "C" on the whole. Overall, I did not hate the place like some of the other reviewers - but I would not recommend it either - both for the low quality and the high price. It looked like they were trying to do some renovations - but it really seems like it should be closed and totally redone at this point. Maybe if I had paid $90 a night, I'd feel like it was a fair deal. Instead my "suite" room was $190 - a hundred dollars more than I thought it was worth.

Room Tip: The "section 5" wasn't that bad...it did have water damage however.
