We stayed here in late August 2011.
Day one: Our check-in (at 3:30 am) was quick and uneventful. The lobby was a bit tired and dated. At first glance I was pleased with the room (3rd floor). The carpet, furniture and linens all looked brand new.
Day 2: Here's where the trouble started. Upon waking I realized that there were filthy drip marks on the bedroom wall nearest to the bathroom and that there were only two sets of towels (small and thin to begin with) for our family of four. No big deal, I figured I would shower before everone else woke then go downstairs to get more towels. Upon entering the shower I noticed that there was rust around the drain. This was easy to see since the drain cap was completely missing and I was looking down a 2" pipe. I chalked it up to "nothing is perfect". I tried to dry my hair with the blowdryer provided but it was broken. So off I went down to the lobby with my wet hair to get some towels for my family.....and another hairdryer. The clerk was happy to give me two more sets of towels and an additional dryer. I forgot to tell her about the filthy drips on the wall. Back upstairs I went. I finally figured out that the problem was not with the blowdryer, but with the outlet in the bathroom (because nothing we plugged into those outlets seemed to work ...yes I hit the reset button). I called the front desk and explained that the only bathroom outlet was not working. She said she would get an electrician to fix it asap. Wonderful! I thought and went about my day. At the end of the day I returned to my room to find 3 incomplete sets of towels (Three bath, two hand and one washcloth). The bathroom outlet still did not work. Down to the lobby I went...a bit annoyed this time. The clerk there assured me that all would be taken care of and to please not check-out (as many of my friends had already done). She explained to me that a disgruntled guest had written an undeserved poor review on trip advisor and they were doing their best to make everyone happy. OK, I thought I'll give you another chance, as I went upstairs with some extra towels.
Day 3: Problems with the hotels free wifi....I will not burden you with the details but suffice it to say it did not end well for me. Outlet still does not work and I make my daily run for towels.
Day 4: Outlet still out of order and towel situation as bad as ever ....still four people in the room......no where near enough towels for everyone.....by now I'm thinking "do they expect us to share?" I call down for more towels because quite frankly I was tired of my daily chore of fetching towels. While I am on the phone, I see an ANT walk across one of the pillows.....GROSS! I smashed the ant and told the receptionist, who turned out to be the owner to come upstairs immediately! While I waited for him to arrive, I realized that the sheets had not been changed since we arrived.. I know this because the sheets did not match. Did they really expect us to sleep on sheets for more than 3 nights? (I know ..... at home i go 7 nights, but it is a hotel standard to change sheets every day unless you leave that card on the pillow ). When the owner arrived (sans towels, of course, but by now I had bigger worries) I showed him the DEAD ANT. He scooped it up in his hand then inspected the room. Holding up the hand containing the ant carcass, he proudly declared "It's OK there is only one!" --I am serious- he was actually proud! I calmly told him it was too late to change hotels and that I wanted clean linens immediately. He replied "Do you want a sheet too or just a pillow case?" He actually seemed surprised when I told him in no uncertian terms that I expected all of the sheets changed on both beds and I was not going to do it. He left the room and came back with his wife. While speaking in a language other than English they made a feable attempt at changing the sheets. Unable to complete the task, they left to go find help. The wife returned with yet another female and they got the job done One pilllow was left on the floor right under the flithy drip marks. I picked it up and realized that it was wet! That is when I figured it out... .there must be a leak in the bathroom wall. This explains the drip marks, the disfunctional outlet, and my wet pillow.........and perhaps the new carpet and furniture!
Day 5 We checked out!
I don't think I have to go into details about the dirty looking dishes and utencils; the luke warm food or the Entemanns style frosted cake at breakfast. (Believe me I like Entemanns but a hotel could do better at breakfast). This place is a dump, run by people who either don't know about hotel management or don't care!
