It's an airport hotel in the medium price range. It does what it promises.
I was between flights, and wouldn't dream of staying here under any other circumstances - not to be taken as a negative criticism, because the hotel operates perfectly well within that very specific niche of providing overnight accommodation to people who really don't want to be there. Not so cheap at $130 after taxes (YMMV), but you get transport and breakfast thrown in!
Airport pick-up from the ground transportation centre at JFK (Federal Circle) worked very well, and the drive to the hotel is only a few minutes. The morning return to the airport was well handled, taking guests to the appropriate terminals.
My room was large, scrupulously clean, just a bit dated and drab in browns and beige. The bathroom was clean and water pressure fine. Coffee machine and flat-screenTV AND free internet (European hotels take note!)
Self-service breakfast is free and available from 6 a.m. I can't understand people who are sniffy about the HIX breakfasts, but then I'm a bread and coffee breakfaster: this one had bread, toast, yoghurts, frut eggs and juice, as well as cereals, milk, coffee and tea. Even the mass-produced omlettes we used to get as in-flight breakfasts. AND a pancake machine I didn't dare try.
