“Perfectly fine for an overnight at the airport”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

It's an airport hotel in the medium price range. It does what it promises.

I was between flights, and wouldn't dream of staying here under any other circumstances - not to be taken as a negative criticism, because the hotel operates perfectly well within that very specific niche of providing overnight accommodation to people who really don't want to be there. Not so cheap at $130 after taxes (YMMV), but you get transport and breakfast thrown in!

Airport pick-up from the ground transportation centre at JFK (Federal Circle) worked very well, and the drive to the hotel is only a few minutes. The morning return to the airport was well handled, taking guests to the appropriate terminals.

My room was large, scrupulously clean, just a bit dated and drab in browns and beige. The bathroom was clean and water pressure fine. Coffee machine and flat-screenTV AND free internet (European hotels take note!)

Self-service breakfast is free and available from 6 a.m. I can't understand people who are sniffy about the HIX breakfasts, but then I'm a bread and coffee breakfaster: this one had bread, toast, yoghurts, frut eggs and juice, as well as cereals, milk, coffee and tea. Even the mass-produced omlettes we used to get as in-flight breakfasts. AND a pancake machine I didn't dare try.

“Great for one night”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Spent the one night when first arriving from Melbourne (Australia). It was late November and the reception staff were busy but very attentive and assisted in any way they could. It was lovely to receive a little Christmas package as we are members of the hotel group. The rooms were comfortable and the shuttle at the airport was efficient. The breakfast is NOT grand, but was welcome on our first morning in the US.

“It's an Airport Hotel and does the job”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

Echoing previous reviews, this place does the job if you're looking for a night at JFK before or after a flight. It's in a pretty poor area but it doesn't really matter because you're only there to sleep. Shuttle worked efficiently both out and back and there was the usual breakfast buffet.

Would stay again for a layover.

“Fair for one night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

Airport hotels are rather sad places. Everyone is in transit - nobody really wants to be there. No one says "Oh Great - we will stay at the airport hotel!" You do it as you have to. This hotel fares a little better. There is a shuttle that comes to collect you at the draughtiest coldest part of the drop offs from the train that goes around the airport but which drops you back to your Terminal once an hour. Be warned. I could have done without the Gospel station and exhortations to avoid sin blasting out of the radio at 6.00am. Heaven may have been for sale but it was hell having to listen.

This hotel has to be in the ugliest location this side of a factory estate. There is no restaurant, no bar, but they will direct you to the hotel down the street to find one. As airport flophouses go I have been in worse. Candidly it is nothing special but it is spotlessly clean and the rooms are perfectly adequate for an overnight stay. The staff on the front desk are lovely and frankly the noise is not bad considering that there is a major airport and a very busy road and the School Bus depot next door.

I rested well, showered and was restored to continue my trip on the morning flight to London. It did the job but it is not fancy and a bit on the barebone side. I think that I would prefer not to have to walk three or four blocks to get a drink or anything to eat and would weigh up the price before booking there again - but it did and I woud return as it really is no less depressing than any of the other airport extablishments

“quite dissapointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

I had a stopover in NYC and wanted to stay close to JFK and enjoy free breakfast and free shuttle and free internet. The staff wasn't as friendly as expected. They rather looked like they didn't want to be bothered. The building is dated and the trip up to the rooms with luggage is confusing. The lobby elevator only goes one flight down and then you have to walk over to another elevator to go up to your room. I had to carry my luggage on my own and it wasn't exactly fun to switch elevators like this. The room was small , but ok. Breakfast was not bad , but the breakfast room wasn't that appealing. I was surprised with the rudeness of the person responsible for the breakfast setup as she literaly said a big, fat NO as I politely asked her for a cup of coffee at 5 in the morning. I wont stay there anymore.
