“not impressed but good airport shuttle service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

The hotel was OK, but it needs a bit fixing up. The service was efficient and polite.
The restaurant was terrible. Took us 45 minutes to get a steak dinner (cooked medium rare) and a club sandwich. The waiter kept telling us it was long to cook the steak
The insulation around the windows was so bad we could here the wind. We weren't street side so didn't hear any traffic, but don't think there is much traffic anyway.
We were facing the trashcans but as we got up at 5:30 the noise (if any) didn't bother us.

There was a glass in the bedroom that had some liquid in it. Made us wonder if the other glass had been washed (we didn't use it.)

We left too early so didn't try breakfast.

The best part of the hotel is their shuttle service. Every half hour 24/7.

“Worst customer service ever!”

I booked a room for my associate with my credit card (prepaid) The name on the reservation was the name of my associate. He could not check in because they needed an ID of me and my signature even it already was prepaid. After I talked to them on the phone and told them I will come over the next morning, please let my associate get to sleep they still didn't let him pass! I had to get up at 1 in the morning, scan my passport, my credit card, fill out a form......until they finally could help my buddy. Will never stay there again and would not recommend the hotel for anyone, interested in friendly customer service!!!!!

“Good for a quick stop over”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

I stayed at this location for one night prior to an early morning flight at JFK. The hotel is clean and fairly easy to locate. I arrived after the restaurant closed and before breakfast started in the AM, which is 6:30. The front desk staff at check in was polite and efficient. If you are driving you should be aware that this hotel only offers valet parking, the cost is $10 per night. This service is due to the fact that vehicles are stacked on lifts behind the hotel.

The rooms are clean and rather simple but are very very small. Rooms are fairly quiet with no noise from the airport or traffic on the nearby streets. There really aren't any dining options within walking distance.

The only complaint I had was the fire alarm malfunction that was eventually blamed on the high winds in the area. The alarm sounded in the halls and rooms every 2-3 minutes for more than 2 hours before it was repaired. The Fire Safety Director did not use the PA to address guests until the problem was corrected..... again, more than 2 hours later. Not even after the Fire Department showed up did anyone explain what was going on. IMO, a terrible job by the staff in this instance, otherwise the night was restful.

“Good option for JFK”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

A little tired looking but fine for a night before or after a flight. All was clean. Bar served food and breakfast was of high quality - in fact, the breakfast is what all hotels offering a buffet should aspire to. This was good value and breakfast was included.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the elevator as doors and walls are a bit thin.

“All should be this good!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011

We used this hotel to park and fly. Their rates were very competitive, maybe a 15 minute ride to the airport and rooms had comfortable beds and were really spacious. However, their service is where they shine! Check in was easy, they explained about the valet, secured parking lot and asked if we needed a wake up call (we did and they did).

We had a problem with the TV and mtc. was there in 15 minutes and replaced it. We ate at the hotel, not a big menu, but the food was reasonable and satisfying. Wait staff was very nice. We came down at 4:45 am before the breakfast was set up, but when the staff found out we'd like coffee, he chased us down and made sure we had some coffee, a muffin and some fruit! Who does That!? Since we were the first folks down for the shuttle, their staff made sure our bags were put on that shuttle first - we were not being pushy or complaining - wow! Let me tell you, we are not "young and beautiful" nor wealthy that you could say we received special treatment because of those implied circumstances. We are average to the point of being ignored at times which makes their service so special.

On our return, we handed our ticket in at the front desk for the valet to bring our car from the secured parking area. While we were waiting (about 8 pm), one of the staff (different staff) looked at me and said there was fresh coffee available and showed me where it was and said to please help myself to some of the refreshments there. Coffee was refreshing especially since we had a 3 hr. ride to go!

I do not hesitate recommending this Fairfield. They are doing something very right with their employees, they appear happy and cooperate with each other and that certainly filters down to their customer care.
