“Comfortable, Clean, Convenient and a Friendly Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2011

Recently stayed at this Hampton Inn in Islandia while in town for business. The Hampton is right off LI Expressway and Rt 454 making it convenient and easily accessible. A large shopping center is just "down the road a piece" going south on Rte 454 should you need anything. I found the hotel public areas and room to be clean. I had a room with a King bed...bed was comfortable. Although the room was smaller than most, it was fine for 1 person on business. The room contained a TV, iron/ironing board, microwave, small fridge and coffee service. A small work space was built into attractive dark wood cabinetry. The hotel also provides free internet access. Very important consideration for business stays. Bath was clean and the usual small containers of shampoo etc were provided. I was given a room on one of the upper floors -- there are 4-- in the back of the building, so I was away from the major roadways and my room was quiet. Upon my return in the evening, I found towels folded into the figure of a dog....similar to what is usually done on a cruise...which gave me a chuckle. In the morning, a free breakfast is provided. They offered a wider selection than expected: bagels, muffins, mini pastries, cereals, fruit, yogurt, eggs, hash browns, sausage, juice and coffee. I can't say that I found the eggs to be wonderful, but hey, they were available. One morning, after getting stuck on the phone , I got down to breakfast after the 10 am closing time. I thought I would just grab a cup of coffee, but the woman who was closing up made sure that I got a toasted bagel to go with my coffee. It was very kind of her....and much appreciated.
Comfortable, clean, convenient with a friendly, thoughtful staff.....I will be back in January!!

Room Tip: ask for a room on the upper floors and in the rear away from the roadways.

“Good for business travel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

A co-worker and I recently stayed at this hotel. Both of our rooms were nice, clean and roomy. Breakfast was good, a nice selection of food and the dining area was well kept.

Only problem with this hotel was that they gave my room to a late arriving guest, she tried to enter the room while I was asleep. I think we were both equally alarmed at this oversight.

“Economical and comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2011

The powdered eggs and most other breakfast items were not worth eating, but you can't really complain too much about free. The mixed fruit salad was actually good, consisting of real fresh oranges, grapefruits and grapes. The rooms are clean and the staff tries to be helpful (but don't listen to them if they tell you there's a laundromat in the Wal-mart shopping center -- there isn't one for a couple miles). Great cookies in the evening. Not too difficult to get in or out of (if you need to go north on Veterans Highway, leave going south and make a u-turn at the light). A free computer in the lobby lets you check in and print your confirmation etc. All in all, a decent place.

Room Tip: Even-numbered rooms face the street and get traffic noise.

“If you don't care about your safety”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

I had pre-paid reservations at this location during the weekend of the 10 year anniversary of Sept 11th. Upon arriving at the front desk the clerk was dealing with a gentleman who seems to be off the wall. He did not have reservations and wanted to know if there were any rooms available. The clerk advised him he would need photo id and a valid credit card. The gentleman stated he had cash and a debit card and never had a problem staying at hotels without id and a credit card. As the clerk looked for a room, this guy turns to me and askes if he cut me off on the highway then starts asking personal info. The clerk advises him he has a room with a king size bed but will need id and a credit card. This guy throws his debit card at the clerk and states he has CASH. The clerk swipes his debit card that declines then carries on that he has CASH. Instead of the clerk looking for a manager (which I found out later on there wasn't one on duty) he gives the guy the keys to a room. The guy askes him if there are stores close by he can walk to (imagine that after asking me if he cut me off) Then the guy goes off on him asking where his room is, this leads to another altercation and he's insulting the clerk. When he was out of site I asked if he could transfer me to the Hampton Inn in Commack he informs me he does not have the power, when I ask for the manager I'm told there is not one on duty. He hads me the 800 number to corporate customer service. They can't get ahold of a manager so I'm told to stay. Like yeah right I'm going to stay where I dont' feel safe. I stayed in another hotel and Monday called corporate who opened a case and then closed it. I contacted homeland security as well as the attorney general. Imagine terrorist looking for a place to stay no id is required and when I finally contacted the manager he hangs the phone up on me. I give this a -100. You ARE NOT SAFE HERE. Had to contact my cc company to dispute the charges The manager is non American and has no regard for the American peoples safety all he sees is AMERICAN DOLLARS.

Room Tip: Stay at the Hampton Inn in Commack

“No Problems Here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

Spent a week here on a business trip. Bed was exceptionally comfortable. Food was hot and plentiful (although a bit more hot variety would have been nice). Workout and pool/spa area clean and well maintained. Most importantly to me was the front desk. I had forgot something, they had. Asked numerous questions about safety, locale, restaurants, all politely and quickly answered.
Bathrooms immaculate and cleaned everyday. Floor vacuumed and bed made. No personal items disturbed, save for the nice washcloth folding and Hershey Kisses left on the tables! ;-)

I am a smoker and when outside enjoying my vice, felt totally safe even at 1AM. Onsite security was a big plus, not that this area warranted it. Only negative (maybe?) was no onsite restaurant (a plus if you consider most onsite food establishments are over priced and have mediocre quality at best). More then enough eateries within a short walk or drive.
Noise from LIE and 454 were there, but not horrible to me.
Would stay again due to the service I received!

Room Tip: If your nudgey about noise, ask for an odd numbered room.
