“Other hotels were all booked so we stayed here--there's a reason this place has rooms available”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2011

I booked 2 rooms for one stay with 3 other friends. I expected it to be a low budget place but was out of options because the other hotels were booked. The location to Hunter is wonderful but once you turn down the street for the hotel and see it in the distance, I just wanted to turn right back. It is much more worn down than it appears on the website. The office was disgusting and we knew we were in for a rough night. The rooms each had 2 double beds. The rooms were large but extremely outdated and old. The bathrooms appeared clean because you could smell the cleaning products but everything else was old and stained. One of our rooms was freezing and the other was as hot as Africa (one had baseboard heat and one did not). The airconditioner/heating unit was very very loud. It is not possible to sleep with the noise. The walls are very thin and you can hear everything your neighbors say. The parking lot was disgraceful because it was not maintained and covered in ice. The breakfast ticket that was provided for the local bagel store was nice but it doesnt make up for all the negative aspects of this place.

“Good Place..”

I happened to plan my ski trip a week ahead for a long weekend but most recommended hotels were sold out. Finally go this one and booked for 2 nights. Reviews were not good but I had no option left. But this place surprised me. Right in front of Hunter mountain. 8 miles (10 mins) from Windham mountain. Room was quite spacious, renovated and with a beautiful view of the hunter mountain trails. So in short this accommodation didn't disappoint me.

“Awful - We asked for our money back and left when we saw the room”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2010

This place was a huge disappointment. Their establishment is nothing like they picture on their website. To start, the office was dirty and smelled horrible. We got in the room, and the carpets were absolutely filthy, there were stains on the futon mattress, and the springs were not in good condition. The window in the bedroom would not shut all the way, and being on the ground floor with young kids worried us about safety. Two minutes after enterring the room, we turned around and left without staying.

Their customer service in handling our dissatisfaction was terrible. The would only give a portion of our money back, and I had to contact the manager the next day to finalize the trasaction. They also would not refund the first night because of their cancellation policy (which we had never been informed of). The manager said that the owner of the hotel had instructed her to not give my money back. This was the worst customer service I have ever recieved. We did not feel this was a safe location for our children, yet they would not listen to our concerns.

I would never recommend this hotel for a family. They may have a great location, but it was awful.

“Beware of Cancellation Policy - You Are Locked In”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2010

We arrived around 4:40 and my wife & daughter went in to the "office", exiting with quite a disgusted look on their faces. I went inside with my two canes and saw (and smelled) the thin, dirty carpet, a large room with no windows, and a dimly lit, cluttered desk at the far end. No one was there and we knocked on the next door, to no avail. As my daughter left she saw a small microwave and a basket with gum in it...later she commented "that must have been the continental breakfast." We were in the area for 10 or more minutes and my wife felt sick to stay. So we called about 20 minutes later, with no answer again but left a message that we would be looking for other lodging. At 6:10, having found a slightly more expensive place with a pool, I called again and this time a gentleman answered. I told him we had tried to talk to someone about the conditions of the "office" and wanted to cancel the reservation since we couldn't even see the condition of the rooms. He said "too bad" there is a 2-week cancellation policy and I would be charged $95 to my card. I explained vehemently that the hotel appeared dirty, smelly and unacceptable and no one was available for over 30 minutes nor did they return my call me back within an hour. It was 4th of July weekend and I was surprised that if this was such a great place it wouldn't be hard to fill it up. Still, too bad, so I told him that we'd have to go online and warn others if they charged me and we wanted to talk to the manager/owner...leaving our number. We received no calls, only a $25 charge, 6 days later...Gutless! Searching around the site on the Internet, there is a 1-week cancellation policy that is not overly evident nor do I remember a warning. So if you are uncertain, this is not the place to chance since you might be charged for a full night - no matter the conditions of the property!! They kept their policy, so I am keeping my policy...

“Never Again”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 March 2010

The only redeeming value was the location. The Room smelled, carpets were filthy...front door wasn't even attached to frame properly. Horrible...just horrible.
