Every year I attend the Mountain Jam festival at Hunter Mountain, NY. I could not believe my good fortune when I found Forester Lodge. It’s a hidden treasure, right at the foot of the mountain! I couldn't be happier with the room rates, the location, my room and the staff. The hotel very close to Hunter Mountain, so it was a pleasant surprise to find the rooms are reasonable. It’s opposite the mountain, so there are rooms with that breathtaking view! It’s a very short distance to the mountain so I enjoy the walk. It’s great exercise! There is a small hill to the lodge, so some people choose to walk to the venue, and get a cab at night.
My overall experience with the staff at Forester has been excellent! I’ve never had a problem with reservations. And during my stay, the staff continues to provide quality customer service.The rooms are modest, spacious, clean, and comfortable!
Forester Lodge and been, and will continue to be, my annual weekend home away from home. I understand changes have been made to the hotel, so now I look forward returning to the new, and improved Forester Lodge next year!

We stayed for The Octoberfest at Hunter Mountain. What a nice place to stay. Room was newly remodeled. Had a great view of Hunter Mountain. Great price. Great staff. walked to Festival at Hunter Mt. Short distance. Great time will definately come back again.

Since it's a reort area they overcharge for terribly maintained rooms. Go to Cairo or East Durham, and you'll make out better cashwise and otherwise: food casual dining and taverns.

Went to see concert at Hunter Mountain.
The good. Within walking diatance to Hunter; on a quiet, secluded mountain; beautiful view; nice balcony; large room.
The bad. Could use a bit of cleaning (didn't smell, but room carpet was stained and hallway corners were dirty); stayed 3 nights & requested no room service, but wanted extra towles at check-in & was told there weren't any; the fridge is very small and not really cold; no ice machine to stock the cooler.
The amazing. The staff is extraordinarily friendly & helpful. Traveled during hurricane Irene...lost water & power. Staff provided bottled water, breakfast cereals & muffins. (talked with people staying a couple miles from us & their hotel didn't even provide them water...they were simply told, "Sorry, but it's not our fault.") Overheard guests bargaining for rates to stay longer...and staff was receptive (I didn't hear the rates, tho).
