We have visisted Queretaro many times and came across this wonderful new property through Mexican friends. The Casona is actually two historic houses that have been merged beautifully. We were in two rooms, both jacuzzi suites. One in a French style and the other with the coolest metal four poster bed we've ever seen. The on-site restaurant had a "festival of chiles" menu with delicious chiles en nogada and other regional specialties. Lourdes the gracious, bilingual general manager saw to our every desire. She invited us to the rooftop terrace for Independence Day where two actors portrayed the important events of 15 September and we all joined the "grito." Shortly thereafter we enjoyed from the terrace the fireworks sent off from the nearby Plaza de las armas and a delicious late night supper. Unlikely many historic hotels that are old and creaky, this one is old with every modern amenity, supplemented by a kind staff and a great central location. DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE. I think it just recently opened, so get there before the secret is out. There's a spa which we didn't use.
