Nkwali was our third camp, so it's hard not to compare it to other camps. It's bit more relaxed/casual than other camps i visited, but nice. The food was quite tasty (breakfast & lunch are buffets, dinner is family style - good but if you are a picky eater it might be a challenge).
Our trip to Nkwali was a short drive then a boat trip (the dock is sandbags & railings made of cane, quite rustic). The camp is six A frame thatched roof huts plus a main area, dining area, and pool. The room faces the Luangwa river, so lots of visits from hippos & elephants. Game drives were good, saw lots of animals. Our guide was quite knowledgable, but not as personable as other guides we had. My only complaint was no conditioner in the bathroom (not a big deal for guys, but big deal for girls). The staff was quite friendly (the night watchman was amazing, he would appear from no where to escort to & from rooms). The lagoon near the pool/dining area is cool. Elephants come to feed and we saw baboons, lizards, and mongoose near the lagoon.
