“Good location for accessing sossusvlei dunes and nice campsite with good views.”

This camp site is located at the gate to the national park although it is still and hour to the main dunes car park so expect some early mornings to see the best of the dunes. The plots on the campsite are shady and nice and those on the outside edges have good views. There is a pool and a bar. The toilets and showers could have been cleaner and more numerous but a good budget place to stay. The dunes are wonderful - definitely worth a visit.

“Best campsite we stayed at in Namibia”

Seariem was easily the best of the sites we stayed at in our 2 week trip to Namibia. The individual sites themselves were all nicely shaded with walls, benches and firepits. The pool was large and clean, the shop was well stocked an the bar was manned by friendly staff.

Anything we couldn't get here (internet access) was available just across the road at the fuel station. The camp is the best spot for getting to the dunes for sunrise, we entered the park when the gate opened at 5am, were the second car at the dune and at the top long before anyone else

“Closest To The Dunes Is The Key”

Sesriem Rest Camp sits at the gate to the park, and if you want early morning/sunrise photos or the experience of being there this is your only real option. You could stay other places that require you to rise even earlier than the 5am time we did to be in loine at the gate when it opened at 5:45 so you can make the dunes by sunrise, as it's about an hours drive in.
The campsites are sand (of course), with a light/power hookup, fire platform, and we were lucky enough to have a bench at #17. The swimming pool was across from us but we never got to use it, and the showers/toilets in a building on the other side of the pool. The showers need some serious work. The sink area looked okay, but the entire building could use a facelift. Europeans sure do abuse these facilities (I say Europeans because as I looked at the registers of the places we stayed, precious few North Americans visit these places). It would be nice if they were a little more respectful. Anyway, there's a restaurant/bar that's pretty sizable, a store that carries a fair variety of products, and of course a desk where you purchase your entry tickets.

“Wonderful views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2006

Spent 2 nights at Sesriem to discover the dunes of the namib. The hotel is very busy with tourists and has a fairly well stocked shop, and a petrol station.

I was on the original part of the camp site, which is excellent and has a nearby pool and bar (with drinks in a vending machine). The facilities are adequate for the site, but be prepared to visit the shower blocks with a torch! The electricity cannot be guaranteed.

There is a purpose built barbeque to build your fire on for cooking at each site.

I did pass the overflow site and this didn't look quite so nice as the original site, so get there early to avoid disappointment!
