“MoWOWi!!!”

We stayed here as part of our trip to Namibia in September 2011 and loved Mowani - in fact we re-named it MoWOWi, as it was so fab! The setting in amongst the boulders and the magnificent views from our 'tent' was very special and will live in our memory for a very long time. The 'tent' was super, with ice cold water, comfy bed and cool bathroom - what more could you need? Well, other than excellent food, wine and pool area.
The only thing I would warn you about is the desert elephant safari - wonderful, unmissable experience, but there is no toilet break at all - which was quite a long time for us - we left at 7am and returned after 2pm...almost felt too long. But hey ho, got to see some wonderful elephants and other creatures too...just be prepared!
We would strongly recommend Mowani - memorable place to visit...also tried Kudo...very tasty, even if we did feel a tad guilty!
P.s. the singing waiters are a bonus!

“Fantastic Camp in fantastic landscape - Top of top”

We spent one night in the Mowani Mountain Camp during our honeymoon. We had a tent where we could enjoy a sundowner. Fantastic with the scenery behind. Tents are very nice, staff is fantastic - they did everything for us, excellent dinner with some singing by the locals - it was simply a superb stay. We still remember the tasty wine we enjoyed. 100% recommendable.

“What a view!”

Mowani was a two night stopover on our way to Etosha Park. The drive from Walvis Bay was long and dusty so when we arrived at the camp, the glass of bubbly was just what we needed. What a beautiful setting amongst giant boulders. The bungalows were nicely spaced out so privacy was assured. Ours had a spectacular view of the valley all the way to the distant mountain range. The colors at sunrise and sunset were just gorgeous.

We are really tuned into low key operations such as Mowani. The staff seemed to be invisible until the moment you even thought you needed something and then they were there. The service and cuisine very good.

The camp is due for a massive renovation soon and will be closed for some time. Although the bungalows were showing their age, it didn't matter too much because the atmosphere was so charming.

The day trip to see the desert elephants was wonderful and Frederick was an excellent guide. Our only slightly negative comment would be about the driving time to the area, which is obviously dictated by the elephants, not the camp. Could be that we were just tired from the previous day's drive.

“My favourite place to stay in Namibia”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

I loved this place so much - I just wished we had stayed longer !
Very private accommodation with fabulous view - very comfy beds , lovely verandah and chilled water and tea/coffee making stuff, hairdryer etc..Only slight drawback was the shower which was the worst shower I came across on my holiday - OK if you want to wash your hair every time you take a shower - hopeless if not. Very slow drain too.
Excellent food - best I had and as a vegetarian I don't usually get very good food on holiday but this place was great.
Fantastic sundowner view and drinks - lovely pool ( very hot when we were there )
Loved it , loved it, loved it !!

Room Tip: Any room will be lovely

“Very Special”

Mowani Mountain Camp is a very special place place to stay. The lodge is tucked away amongst huge boulders and the luxury tented rooms have amazing views across the Abu-Hual valley. The tents are very, very private and are beautifully appointed. They are cooled by the breeze which blows through the mountains. There is a floor mounted fan should you need it which we didn't. In room tea and coffee, flask chilled water and a room safe are provided. We received an excellent welcome upon arrival with cool towels and a refreshing fruit cocktail to refresh us at the end of a long road journey. Breakfast and dinner were very good and staff make every effort to make your stay an enjoyable one. Refurbishent of the tents is due - the state of the front flap of our tent - the zip was coming apart and rather than being sewn back was stapled into place. But the location is amazing.

Room Tip: Room 1 for position and view
