Mowani was a two night stopover on our way to Etosha Park. The drive from Walvis Bay was long and dusty so when we arrived at the camp, the glass of bubbly was just what we needed. What a beautiful setting amongst giant boulders. The bungalows were nicely spaced out so privacy was assured. Ours had a spectacular view of the valley all the way to the distant mountain range. The colors at sunrise and sunset were just gorgeous.
We are really tuned into low key operations such as Mowani. The staff seemed to be invisible until the moment you even thought you needed something and then they were there. The service and cuisine very good.
The camp is due for a massive renovation soon and will be closed for some time. Although the bungalows were showing their age, it didn't matter too much because the atmosphere was so charming.
The day trip to see the desert elephants was wonderful and Frederick was an excellent guide. Our only slightly negative comment would be about the driving time to the area, which is obviously dictated by the elephants, not the camp. Could be that we were just tired from the previous day's drive.
