I have been recently traveling to this area to service a new account for my company. I did not make reservations in advance, and found the "nice motel" in Herkimer (Herkimer Motel) had no rooms available. They suggested this place, after calling a few spots in Utica to find they were full. I should have known that if they have a machine answering..its not a "nightly stay place"..but
I drove over to find an old hotel that had been converted to an strange kind of office building. I wandered the gloomy halls looking for staff. A nice lady from one of the offices told me that it is really more long term apts...I left, went back to the original motel to see if they could give me other ideas..I was in luck..they had a reserv.ation cancel so I did get a room (Pretty nice)...I never did get into a room here, but it was weirdly layed out and the halls were pretty depressing.

It sounds like this reviewer only walked around by the professional offices section at a time when most of them had already closed, which of course makes it look dimmer than when they are open with all their lights on. As with most mixed-use buildings, the commercial offices are toward the front entrance of the building, and the hotel suites are in a private wing to ensure guests are not bothered by local people coming to the commercial area of the property. We have a computerized switchboard system with an auto-attendant and you have to press the prompt for the rental office to speak to a person. It's also too bad he didn't see the motel suites section, which is in a separate and private wing of this multi-use complex for the specific reason that people like their quiet privacy. I can't understand how TripAdvisor can have people write reviews of a property in which they never actually stayed. I'm sure this person would have enjoyed our corporate suites.
