Showing my range here - last review was for Boca Resort and Beach Club, now a a motel in the Mohawk Valley in NY.
The nice lady who checked me in was pleasant, professional, and efficient. The lobby was clean and looks like it has been recently renovated. The room also appears to be recently renovated - comfortable bed, clean, new bathroom. I don't think I've stayed in a 'motel' in 15 years - but this is as nice a room as any of your standard Hilton Garden Suites or Hampton Inns. Maybe even nicer than some.
The problem is the NYS Thruway is about 20 yards away. Plenty of noise from trucks all night. However, if you convince yourself it's the ocean, you have a shot at falling asleep. That's until the next train. The tracks are on the other side of the motel. If you've ever seen the classic scenes from I Love Lucy you might remember the one where they are on a road trip and stop at a place to sleep only to be woken up by a train every 20 minutes. A train so close to the shack they are staying in that the beds vibrate around the room like bumper cars. Well - you get the idea only the beds are nicer and they don't actually move about the room.
The WiFI is neither strong nor fast and a number of the TV stations only come in all fuzzy and in black and white.
If you can sleep through anything, it's clean and convenient so go for it. Now I am thinking Cooperstown wasn't 'too far' away after all and I should have stayed there.
