Some friends of ours decided to get married in the Hamptons. It appears this is a difficult area to find good and reasonably priced accommodation.
We stayed here for 3 nights in July 2007. The cost for 3 nights was $640, far more expensive than any other hotel we visited in our 2 week trip around the US/Canada, and for a much lower quality room. However, the cost was still one of lowest prices available in the Hampton Bays, where none of the chain hotels operate.
The location is good, with waterfront access, some lawns and plenty of parking. It is quite a compact site, so all the sun loungers etc. on the lawns are directly outside guests rooms.
The room was tired, not very clean, with a very small bathroom and shower. The air conditioning was noisy and dripped water on the steps outside.
This was the first hotel not to have an iron and ironing board.
The pool was small, and only open for limited hours.
Other guests were fond of drinking on their verandas fairly noisily.
The general area seems to actively discourage tourism, many of the beaches require resident-only parking permits (no exceptions), or are very expensive to park at.
