“Personal and Charming in Upstate NY”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

I had to return to Glens Falls for a funeral and contacted Amy at the Queensbury. She quickly understood my needs for a small group of rooms and provided personal service and a place for the family to congregate. This hotel as others stated is a charming reminder of hotels gone by. This property is not about what it is not but it has in tradition and history. All staff were friendly and courteous and provided local guidance. They also included a continental breakfast at a favorable price. We enjoyed the bar area for the superbowl and they took care of our large party throughout the game with interesting food and engaging service....all for a a wonderful price. Hotel sits across for the library and if you have time, this is a real find as it has historic foundation and a local story

“Lovely"”

We came from Manhatttan for a few nights. I had read some terrible reviews, but I only ever just look them over. And how happy I am that I did not listen to rude unhappy people, because this old hotel is a sweet little gem! The people were nice, the bar cute, the hot tub perfect, our room lovely, clean and not tacky like most hotels! Our little Jack Russell enjoyed himself as well! Don't listen to everything you read, think and learn for self. Take chances, life should not be so boring!

Room Tip: We have a pet so our choices tend to be limited, but I always nicely ask for one of their favorite r...

“What a nice change from the chain hotels”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

Recc by rest stop attendants and was worth it. I had been on the road for over 1 week and staying at chain hotels. This was a beautiful hotel that was warm, people were friendly, close to restaurants although there is a good one in the hotel, quiet and quaint. Very inexpensive as only paid $80 with AAA discount. Not usual the further east I got. So worth a visit.

“Nice, but cold!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

Stayed here on a romantic Christmas vacation getaway with my fiancee.
Very nice looking old hotel, but often gives you a bit of a creepy "Shining" type feeling.. especially the old long halways.
Room was nice, with high ceilings, but felt a bit on the small side.
Biggest complaint about this hotel has to be the temperature. The halways were so drafty that made it for being very cold trying to get to and from the pool/hottub area.
Due to some construction going on, this was a particularly long detour that had to be made though the lobby.
The hottub itself just didnt seem to be hot enough, and the area around the huge skylight was very delapitated and dripping on us. Condensation I suppose.
Even our room didnt seem capable of reaching the right temperature.. one setting was too hot, while the next available setting was too cold. And there was no heating whatsoever in the bathroom.
Had a great therapeutic massage. Would definitely recomend one. And thanks to a holiday special, my girlfriend's massage was half price.
Front desk staff was friendly, but almost a bit dorky on the yound side.
Might consider going back to this hotel in the summer, but definitely not again in the winter!

“Old doesn't have to mean musty. Really 2 1/2 stars”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

We stayed for 2 nights. The location was fine and the town is very nice, but the hotel really does need to be renovated. It had the feel of a place that hasn't been updated in a while. The beds weren't that comfortable and the rooms were a bit musty - not horrible, but not really good either. The pool was huge and pretty well maintained. The service was so-so: some people working there were nice, some not as much. Breakfast was good.

I'd stay here if I absolutely had to, but I'm going to be going up that way again this winter and will be looking for another place.
