Villa Mon Reve is well established on La Digue Island as a small guesthouse. From the jetty the guesthouse can be reached by bike (bike hire at jetty) or taxi. We hired by taxi and hired the bikes from the guesthouse and saved half the money quoted at the jetty.
The guesthouse is located in the centre of the island and is in a good position to explore by bike. The disadvantage of the location is by night there are no street lights on the island, is very dark at night and it is a 15 minute walk to the jetty area with restaurants to choose from. We took a torch and is a must to move about at night.
A second reason is if there is rain it is further to get back to the accommodation and in August there was a lot of rain. There is a mini market next door and an internet cafe is located next to Villa Authentique. The guesthouse serves wonderful breakfast and creole food of a night. There are two roads from the guesthouse to get to Anse Source d'Argent beach and it is 4 euro or 5 USD per person and after two entries the third time is free.
The entrance of the property is reception, dining area and hairdressor salor and the rooms are located at the back. There isn't a lot of privacy and geckos often came into our room as louvre windows do not close completley. We ended up having room 9 and that is the newest one, the others seemed older as we spent our first night in smaller room. Mosquito nets are on each bed and the rooms are kept very clean. However from what we saw on the island it was one of the better value accommodations. If not a lot of time was planned to be spent at the guesthoues then this is a good option for La Digue.
