I won't bore you with a lengthy review as it is the same as many before.
Desroches really is amazing, beautiful island, accomodation, food and diving and fab staff they really make your holiday very special.
I visited with my wife for 10 days in November - December 2011.
Fabulous!!
A special thanks Thanks to Potu, Jorgie, Harri, Bernie and Jase & Eric from the dive shop.

“Dissapointing”

We stayed in a villa for 11 days from Christams 2011 until 5 January 2012. The villa was beautiful with its own pool, 4 bedrooms ensuite a lovely kitchen and lounge. The setting was picturesque. The food was faultless, magnificent at all times! The dive centre (Dev, Chase and Tyrone) was memorable. They were professional at all times and could not do enough to help. The bicycles were fantastic as we could get around without bothering anyone for a lift or having to wait for the buggy or taxi. It is a beautiful island with the white sands and blue sea. This is an island that is so small but yet you feel like you are the only ones on the island. You have your privacy at all times. Putu, our waitress at most of our meals was brilliant. She was helpful and kept a smile on our faces with her awesome sense of humor. Their Spa is exceptional and worth while, although overpriced!

The down side.....
Meals at night started at 7.30 with a set menu and by the time you have been served all the meals it is 9.30 at the earliest before you get up from the table. My 11 year old son couldn't manage to stay up that late never mind having to eat that late. Your first course is only served at 8pm. Some of our meals we only managed to get something to drink when we were finnishing our meals!! The staff were overworked as they were doing 2 shifts a day. Managers were jumping in to help. (We only ever drank water at meals). We had no drinking water in our villa for 2 days. I had complainted to several staff and reception which fell on deaf ears. It was taken care of by a barman once I had lost my temper. Waiting for transport in the rain for over 2 hours. Sometimes we would cycle in the storms with towels around us just to the main restaurant. Ordering food in our villa also turned out to be disasterous on several occations. Meals not being sent. No one tells you there are kids menus. My son had to endure a 9 course meal of everything he did not eat. Day 5 another child told him there was a menu for the kids. We had no bath towels for 4 days, we used the beach towels.
I was very dissapointed as we had saved long and hard to go on this trip. We stayed at the Constance Ephelia Resort on Mahe for 2 weeks before the Desroches and feel it was far superior.
TAKE MOSQUITO REPELLANT and lots of it. The flea's are unbearable and it definitly helps

Room Tip: Beach suites are good if you are not wanting to cycle to and from your meals. The villa's are a...

Hi DionSouthAfrica,

So sorry to read your comments about your holiday at Desroches Island over the 2011 festive season. The level of service you received from our Restaurant, Housekeeping and Reception Teams is out of the norm and measures are being put in place to ensure these comments don't arise again. Thank you for bringing these to our attention.

Glad to read that you loved our Beach Villa's - they are perfect for a family or couples looking for a little more privacy. Thank you for your comment on the food - 'The food was faultless, magnificent at all times!' Our chefs are from some of the top hotels and restaurants around the world and endeavor to deliver authentic "real" food. I will pass your comments to Dev, Chase , Tyrone from the Dive centre and Putu from the Restaurant for their honest service.

We hope we can welcome you and your family back soon to experience the Desroches hospitality we have become reputed for and leave with only amazing memories.

“Honeymoon island paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

We stayed on Desroches for 10 nights for our honeymoon and it was perfect in every way. We were met from the plane by a small welcome committee of staff who provided cool towels, took care of our luggage and whisked us off to our room on a golf buggy. That pretty much set the tone for the holiday. Fantastic accommodation -we had a large studio room with an outdoor bathroom, terrace, day bed, and a big garden leading onto the beach. The food was amazing; the menu was consistently excellent and the dishes delicious, though if you do fancy something a little simpler the chef will make it to order, just how you like. The staff were amazing, nothing was ever too much and they were always very friendly and helpful. The island is idyllic with beautiful beaches which we often had to ourselves. We had a great time cycling around the island on the bikes provided. It isn't cheap but it shouldn't be - this is a very special place and worth every penny.

“PARADISE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

This place was perfection! It was the first stop on our honeymoon and we absoloutely loved it! Got upgraded upon our arrival and had a beautiful villa on the beach with our very own pool - was amazing!! The beaches were great - having the bikes to cycle around and explore the island was lots of fun! The food was great - with options to eat in your room! The massages were great just everything - perfect island perfect honeymoon spot!! Its expensive - but worth it for a once in a lifetime experience!

“Truly Paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

We got married on Desroches back in September and spent seven wonderful nights on the island. Desroches was everything we had hoped for and far much more.

We cannot rate the team on Desroches highly enough, everyone was always smiling, friendly and nothing was ever felt to be too much trouble. A special thanks to Berny who assisted with the wedding preparations and Rajiv, both helping to make our day so special and memorable.

We have had many holidays in the past however no destination has ever come close to Desroches and I doubt anywhere we ever go to will. Desroches truly is paradise. We especially enjoyed being able to cycle to any part of the island, at any time of the day, to find we were the only people there, surrounded only by the magnificant unspoilt beauty of the island. Another one of the many highlights was the food; for the majority of our stay we dined on the beach both at lunchtime and by candlelight at dinner - the menus were always varied and each dish tasted amazing.

We have no regrets whatsoever for choosing Desroches for our wedding and honeymoon and I could go on forever about how amazing this place really is, however there is nothing I could say which hasn't already been mentioned in other reviews. The only regret we have is that we had to leave.

Finally, I cannot write a review on Desroches without a special mention about the agent we booked this fantastic wedding/honeymoon through - Christine at Seyexclusive. We were a little apprehensive about booking our wedding abroad however Christine was always on hand via phone or email regarding any queries we had about Desroches and the Seychelles. A professional, personalised service was provided throughout, from the moment of booking right through to our return to the UK - many thanks. We will not hestitate in booking with Seyexclusive again.
