“The Bates Motel_Revisted”

Lets see, on arrival, the lobby was sweltering hot (should have enjoyed it while we could!). tDespite booking a smoking room with river view online, we were given a second floor room with a view of I-90. The room had no ashtrays, no fitted sheets on the bed, only 2 towels, no bathmat, and no blanket on the bed and only 2 lumpy, ancient pillows on the bed. Oh and did I fail to mention that the A/C was stuck permanently on an the entire room was like a fridge!!! The knobs on the antiquated A/C unit were completely missing!
When the front desk was called the phone rang 14 times despite the fact the the place was mostly vacant and the desk clerk had little to do.
When I lodged my complaints, with him in person, he was sitting at the desk with the phone just inches away! I was given the ashtray, bathmat, 2 towels, and was told I would need to wait until housekeeping staff arrived for the blanket and pillows. Before using the bathtub, I washed the soap scum ring off with not one, but 3 or 4 antibacterial wipes!!!! ewwww....all of them were brown and filthy by the time I was done.
Given the choice between staying in your car on I-90 and sleeping in a service area and staying here....stay in your car! Heck stay in your car in the breakdown lane!

“Disgusted”

Unless you are desperate, do not stay at this place! We would have rathered sleep in our car. The room smelled of stale smoke, the number of flies in the bathroom evidence the lack of cleaning and the "view" they advertised would not have been so bad had we been able to see through a clean window and the property not been so let go. When we went for breakfast, we had to keep telling the desk guy to fill up fill up the coffee, get up napkins, etc....he acted put out. We could not help but notice a picture of the property back in it's hay day and comment about how unfortunate it was that the owners had let so much go. Frankly, if they are that lazy about do a decent job, they should close down.

“RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!!! THIS PLACE SUCKS!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 June 2010

Starting with the bathroom.....no toilet paper, no hand towels, and no washcloths (except for the one hanging in the shower from the previous guest). Floor was dirty...corners filled with hair and other dirt. Now into the room.....sheets don't fit bed. When you lift the pillow, you can see the mattress. There were no blankets. HEAVY layer of dust on the furniture. We found water in our ice bucket and when we took it to the office to get ice, he filled the dirty bucket with ice and didn't use a liner. The view of the river is nice but the balcony is so filthy we didn't want to sit outside. Rotten banana peel on the stairs which appeared to have been there for days. Found our trash bucket outside the door full of trash at least as old as the banana peel if not older. NASTY!!! The ONLY reason we stayed here is because we were afraid the clerk was not capable of issuing a refund. We took the sheets from the 2nd bed to cover the mattress on our bed and also double up the top sheet to use as a blanket.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 April 2010

When me and my husband was tried of driving. We find a great place to stay and to relax.
My husband loves the water and there was a river right behind the hotel. The room that we stay in was very clean. The person at the desk welcome us, with a friendly smile.

“Decent place to stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2009

After reading some of the reviews I was a little hesitant to stay here, but our stay was very good. The rooms are decent size and have a awesome view of the water. If you are looking for 5 star accomodations, this hotel is not for you. However, if you are looking for a clean place that is reasonably priced, you will be satisfied. Terry the manager was very friendly and helpful. Located close to the fonda fairgrounds and right off the thruway.
