We had a very small family wedding at the Woodcliff recently. We were married in one of their large suites and had ordered fruit and veg and cheese platters along with a bowl of punch. The room was great. Food was scheduled to arrive at 3:30 (actually written in our contract). I called at 3:45 wondering where the food was. The front desk clerk checked for us and said it would be there shortly. After 2 more phone calls and one visit downstairs by my daughters, the food finally arrived at 4:20! One poor young man was sent up several times with trays, instead of sending a few people up just once. He brought the punch and when we asked for glasses he looked at us as if to say "what? now you want glasses". By the time he brought the glasses up we had to delay the actual ceremony by 10 minutes. The food was good but clearly someone dropped the ball. We wanted a low key but special day and instead were forced to put up with lousy food service. Also, they have a breakfast buffet during the week in the restaurant. We've had better buffets at several other hotels. The buffet consisted of fresh fruit (looked exactly like what we had the night before), bagels, muffins, oatmeal and cold cereals. No waffles, eggs, potatoes, bacon etc! It was a pretty pathetic excuse for a breakfast buffet if you ask me. We had traveled recently and had several wonderful FREE breakfast buffets at a Hampton Inn as well as a Marriott. This buffet was certainly not free nor was it worth the $20 it cost us. Also, we had requested that a few of the feather bed pillows be replaced with foam since I'm allergic to feathers. We didn't realize that this was not done until much later in the evening. I had to wait for about 20 minutes for someone from housekeeping to bring up the pillows. Again, not a huge deal but when you are paying close to $500 for a suite, you expect things to be done correctly especially since we had included it in our contract. The hotel has said that we won't be charged for the food since they dropped the ball and we appreciate that. But it was our wedding and we had counted on this first class hotel to do things properly. They really didn't and we were both very disappointed.
