“Met my needs perfectly.”

I found that this hotel met my needs perfectly. On my first trip to upstate New York on assignment, and being a big La Quinta Inn fan, I had to try this hotel. It's an older hotel that's been remodeled into a La Quinta, as far as I could tell. La Quinta is growing so quickly and it seems like they are remodeling a lot of older hotels to bring them into the family. The check-in was quick and I walked up a flight of stairs to my room. The room itself was nice and clean and more than big enough for my 2-day stay. It was super quiet in there and I didn't notice any adjacent room noise which was nice. The bed was great and everything worked perfectly. There is a restaurant connected to the hotel but I didn't try it and although it was late in the year it seemed to always have people in it.

The breakfast was like at most hotels with coffee/tea/juice and breads/bagels/muffins, oatmeal/cereal, etc. I drove to a Starbucks for my fix of dark roast coffee but everything at the hotel breakfast was good and well stocked. This hotel has a cool lobby area and there are a lot of interesting places to sit and relax. They also had great interior stairs which I love since I'm a fan of taking the stairs for some exercise.

I would definitely stay here again if I was in that area and would recommend it to others.

“okay for 1 nite”

I was there for a nearby conference on 10/25/11. When I got to my room, it ws freezing. Someone had left the a/c on high!! It was clean and the bed was comfortable but the whole hotel could use some updating. My shower in the morning only had warm water. When I called the front desk i was offered the key to another room to shower. Although a pain to go shower elsewhere, at least the water was hotter there. i guess that was the best last minute accomodation they could come up with so "A" for effort.

“Stay away”

The front desk lady was rude when we checked in and out. When calling the front desk to alert them of the problems of the room, no one answered, numerous times. The entire non smoking floor reeked of cigarettes and marijuana. There was mold in the shower that had been festering for quite some time. The walls are paper thin you can hear EVERYTHING going on. Patrons up slamming doors until all hours of the morning. Also yelling at each other in the hallways. Overall unsafe environment. Best advice is to spend the extra fifty dollars and stay down the street.

“Great hotel for short stopover!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

We stayed her in September for 3 nights. We booked this on Travel Republic and got a good deal.
Because we were driving from Boston decided not to stay in New York city centre for 2 reasons.1) parking and driving in the city! and 2) the cost of city hotels.
The La Quinta is a very basic hotel. It does not appear to be in a village or town area. Restaurants were a drive away we found. Though we had a lovely pizza delivered to our room via a phone call.
There is in room coffee maker, hairdryer, iron and board and free internet access. Also one computer for guest use in the lobby.Free parking behind the hotel.
There was a free continental breakfast each morning. Make- your- own -waffles,bagels, cereal etc and fresh fruit and juices. There were two toasters that looked like they had come out of the ark, but worked, mostly.
Only ever one person on the reception even with phones ringing and customers at the desk. I will say in their favour that they always put the phone person on hold and didn't start talking to them while serving me, a practice that drives me mad!
The only issue I did have, which manager and staff may want to look at, is lack of information for guests who are, like us, staying there for a visit into New York.
I could find nothing about getting trains or buses in to the city and it was like pulling teeth asking anyone. Luckily I had researched train times and stations (one of the reasons we picked this hotel). I did eventually get a good bit of advice from the reception, and that was that I couldn't park at the station as I had planned. I asked about taxis and he gave me a card for one they always use. Thanks.
PLEASE, we guests are not always savvy Americans who know whats what, so please give us plenty of info about how to get to the city and what to see.
Saying all this, we did get the train,$24 return I think, and the taxi was about $12 each way.
The train took about 40 minutes and went direct to Grand Central Station. Perfect.
The large Pallisades shopping Mall is across the Tapan Zee Bridge, about 20 minutes drive and a $5 toll fee. (pay just one way) Easy to find.
The hotel did have a pool, which I used. It was very nice, but cold. There were pool towels provided as well.
All in all, this is a budget hotel, clean and tidy and fine for an alternative to staying in the city.
Would I stay again? Maybe not. But no reflection on the hotel, just would problably fly in and stay in the city.

“Clean room, decent breakfast”

Stayed one friday night in order to partake in some of the Sleepy Hollow activities. Cathy checked us in and was helpful, but obviously very frazzled by the unstoppable phone calls coming in and people waiting at her counter. We were friendly with her and in turn she was friendly with us. When we asked about cabs into SH she was very obliging and called one for us even though she was very busy. One note on this: if you are planning on doing a lot in Tarrytown or SH, be aware that a cab from LQ will cost anywhere from $12-$16 each way. The beds were bedbug free and seemed pretty new. No bugs found in our room. We stayed on the first floor and there were no obnoxious smells. However, the person next to us hit the snooze about 5 times at 4:45 a.m., each of which we heard, but this would not be a deal breaker or keep us from staying here again.
