I had friends in town for two nights and needed to find a couple of rooms. I sent them to The Painted Lady and they were truly impressed! The rooms were wonderful and spacious with beautifu bathrooms and jetted tubs. The service was personable and professional, and the breakfast was just amazing. The breakfast table looked like it was set for the Queen of England with beautiful antique china. For breakfast they had fresh squeezed orange juice, a wonderful frittatta and DESSERT! (at breakfast....whodda thunk?) We had about 4-6 inches of snow overnight. When they went to their car, the owners had brushed all the snow off for them. It's those little touches that are so big. While in town, I also took my guests to Hill Top Inn for dinner. Another wonderful treat! Thanks for making me look so good as a host Painted Lady! I'll be sending all of my in town guests your way!

We have just returned from Elmira's Painted Lady B&B. We had a fabulous weekend and this B&B was superb. Butch and Marilyn were the most accomodating, friendly hosts we have ever met. And the food was absolutely delicious and much more that we could possibly eat. They offered recommendations of local activities, excellent restaurants and things to do. We highly recommend this B&B and we'll definitely return.

My wife and I stayed for the one night in September while travelling from the Niagara Falls to New York. We arrived late but were greeted with a fresh pot of tea (the readers from England will understand the importance) and a tray bearing a selection of cakes. The Painted Lady is the cleanest establishment we stayed in during our 18 day visit to the States and the Olivia's Rose Garden room which had a fabulously comfortable bed.
In the morning Butch looked after the guests while Marilyn was being a wiz in the kitchen, she must of be a wiz as few days previously I had found that French Toast and I didn’t get on at all and Marilyn changed the breakfast to something more of my liking and taste. Butch and Marilyn knowledge of all things local is encyclopaedic which they are willing to share without being over bearing.
On the down side (which applied to every place we stayed at), one is quoted a price but come the final bill there is sales tax added; visitors from the UK expect to hear the bottom line price on booking, it didn’t affect my wife and I as we don’t travel on a tight budget but others do and need to be aware of this USA practice.

All in all a great place to stay.

Lovely People, Lovely place! Most comfortable accomadations with the best fresh home cooked Breakfasts ever. Elmira is a terrific place to visit tons of History, beautiful country side, and with the surrounding lakes and wine country there is alot to see and do.
