The Elmira's Painted Lady is the ideal place for a relaxing stay in the Elmira area. Owners Butch and Marilyn Monroe were very accommodating; Butch is a wealth of knowledge on places and events in the area. There was never a moment that we didn't ask Butch something that he didn't come up with a perfect thing to do.
We were unsure about our plans. It turned out the weather was unusually warm for mid October, and we decided to include more outdoor activities in our plans. Butch provided itineraries, passes, and suggestions as to what we could do.
Between the wineries, cheese factories, restaurants, gorges and museums, there is a great deal to do within a short drive of the Painted Lady. Butch gave us perfect instructions, including maps and brochures, for all off these. If that wasn't enough, I planned to do a bike tour, and Butch provided for that, as well, even though our time ran out before we could do the cycling trip.
The Painted Lady is a beautiful facility, with great attention to detail. Our room (The Samuel Clemens Hideaway) was clean and very comfortable, with a large bathroom and closet area.
Breakfast was wonderful, and left us quite prepared for the day. I am not usually a "Breakfast Person", but I could not resist.
The only (very slight) negative was that our room wasn't made up daily, but we quickly straightened the bed out and all was fine. Certainly not reason to complain.
Thank you, Butch and Marilyn, for a wonderful, relaxing stay!
