We booked this room from the highway on the phone. After arriving at the hotel, we were a bit shocked. We had reserved a two-bedroom suite for $177. But the room was a disaster. The smell of stale smoke permeated the hotel. The heater in our room was broken, so the temperature did not creep above 61 degrees. We bathed our ids then caled to switch rooms. But the phone didn't work. When we finally talked with the staff about changing rooms, no two-bedroom suites were left. We settled on a one-bedroom suite. The staff asked for $117 for it. At this point we knew the room was not going to be worth that much. Fortunately, the staff did accommodate our request for a discounted rate due to the inconvenience. We paid $59 for the room. That is an appropriate price.
Overall, the hotel is not worth the cost. We have stayed at suite hotels before and gotten a lot more value. Those hotels were clean, had cozy living spaces, granite countertops, a swimming pool, comfortable lobby, and functional thermostats. This hotel had none of the above. Candlewood Suites is on our "Do Not Stay Here" list.
