We are a family of 5 and recently returned from the farm.

We each had a great time. We have 3 kids: 15 months, 4 1/2 and 6 1/2 and they each had a blast. The kittens seemed to be a favorite amongst all 3.

We stayed for 3 days and 2 nights...that seemed long enough to get a flavor for the farm and enjoy the space of the country...yet not too long to feel bored.

The Hulls: Farmer Frank, Sherry and grandma were gracious hosts. Farmer Frank has a passion and knowledge of farming that is quite rare. Ask him to take you on a tractor ride to the peak of the hill near the farm and you'll see a corm maze and some majestic views of the catskills. The Hulls are 6 or 7th generation Americans so if you want to get Farmer Frank talking ask him about his rich family history as well.

Our kids loved the 'Mickey mouse' pancakes that Sherry makes each morning...and her purple glasses that help her see all the special people (children).

George is Frank's 'main guy' and he helps with the chores each day- feeding the rabbits, calves, ducks, goats, pigs, sheep, goats, deer, chickens, etc. He also is very patient with the multitude of questions both kids and adults ask. He took us all fishing and the older kids each caught their first fish.

For us parents, It was nice to get out of the city for a few days as it brought some quiet nights (excluding the crickets and coyotes)...and some perpective and appreciation of the people and land that source our food.

My husband and I took our little 4 yr old little girl on her dream experience. She loved being at the farm more than whatever outside attraction was nearby. Even us adults felt like kids again. Miss Shery is a great cook and makes u feel at home with that welcoming smile. This is one vacation we'll always remember. As long as u love animals and don't mind being around them..then is a great choice.

Our family really enjoyed our stay at Hull-o Farms. Our 8 year old and 6 year old sons had a blast milking the cows, feeding the baby animals, collecting the chicken eggs and playing with the kittens. And so did we! Thanks so much Farmer Frank & Miss Sherry for the fun, tons of information, amazing food and a great overall few days. The boys are already asking when we can go back!

This felt more like visiting family than going on a vacation, and I mean that in a nice way! You have your own space in your very own house on the farm (def. not a hotel but very well kept) yet are clearly staying on a working farm and get a good look at what that entails without actually having to work very hard. George who seems to take care of most of the farm chores was really wonderful with the kids. The kids were typically not that helpful with accomplishing the farm jobs on schedule (picture 3 year olds trying to milk cows and feed baby animals their bottles) but he was always gracious and patient. The meals were home cooked by Sherry, Farmer Franks wife and were delicious. She was also very accommodating about cooking vegetarian food.

I would recommend a Hull O Farms vacation to any family with kids interested in farm animals, who are OK with a vacation that’s a little out of the ordinary. I was saddened to see how hard it is for American farmers to make a living doing actual farming. Hopefully some of this agro tourism can help keep some of these farms in operation. Farmer Frank’s family started the farm around the Revolutionary war and they likely won’t be able to keep it much longer even though they literally work around the clock. Really heartbreaking what bad policy and poor consumer choices can do to very hard working people. Anyway, this trip is recommended and I felt better spending our vacation money here than giving it to a corporation. As a side, if you want to watch TV I recommend that you bring your own DVDs or VHS Cassettes. Also, bring shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, etc. There's a Walmart about 20 minutes away if you forget anything.

I noticed that a few other reviewers mentioned the cats. There are def. a lot of cats roaming the farm! They mentioned that people drop them off at the farm because they know that they will be taken care of there. As far as I could see they were taking care of the cats as best they could and they do feed them. I imagine they can’t really afford to spay and neuter the entire cat population on the farm. Anyway, our kids really loved playing with the kittens and bunnies.
