This is a a very nice property, but as others have stated before me, it is very unorganized.
I traveled with my husband, our 2.5 year old daughter, my sister and my father.
The hotel staff upon checking in told us that they had no record of payment in full via Expedia, which was done in December, and not to worry about it until check out. I was of course worried about a $900.00 + charge that was already paid in full. The night before check out, my husband and I spend a total of at least one hour at the from desk trying to get our bill corrected. By midnight, we had given up and went to bed, Upon waking, we had a note stating that the charges had been corrected, but I still have my doubts and we will be diligently checking out credit card bill for the next few months.
Checking into the room it appeared very nice. Upon opening the dishwasher, it was discovered that it was filled with dirty dishes. I had to run this and empty it upon arrival. Not fun to cleanup someone else's mess first thing.
The waterpark was nice for smaller children, but NOT all worth the $35.00 per person that they were charging. There were only two slides for adults over 18 (the other two medium height slides were reserved for guests under 18. (Like 12-18) There were 3 slides for toddlers as well as a wave pool, so our daughter was thriiled. As adults, it was very disappointing. Not worth the money. (Check out Splash Lagoon in Erie PA, WOW! Much cheaper ad HUGE.) The cafe inside the pool area was VERY expensive. ($3.50 for a vitamin water, what??) Take my advice, take a pool bag and take in your own drinks.)
Over all, I think the waterpark should have been no more than $19.99 per person, and kids under 5 free. It is open to the public too, yet, no discount for those staying at the expensive property. Unfair, really.
The arcade was fun, and little one loved it; EXPENSIVE however. The arcade staff was awesome, tho. Ask for James. He was fantastic. (We did have one instance there in the arcade trying to buy tokens and were told that we needed to go to the front desk for a wrist band, which of course didn't work.)
We ordered a pizza from the Acorn Grill, and went down to pick it up at the right time, but it was burnt and we had to wait for another. Good point was that the manager gave us four free desserts for the inconvenience, which was nice. (His name was Matthew, and is a dead ringer for the young John Cusack.) The pizza itself ended up being fantastic.
The free valet was awesome. The younger guys were always eager to help, but the older one had to be tracked down. Not a big deal really.
There is a shuttle to take you across the street to the ski and tubing area, which is supposed to come every 15 minutes. No dice. No sign as to where to stand, nothing. We walked every time but once (drive with the little one), and it's not a short walk. The front desk of the hotel said there were two tubing areas, when in fact there was only one. (Again, communication!)
The tubing was pricey - $25.00 for 5 hours, which had to be used all in the same day. They sold us a 5 hours pass, but the tubing hill only had 4 hours left to be open, so we lost an hour right there. As we go to the top of the hill, we were told that the tubing hill closes early every night, so get it in while you can. Seriously? We already paid for an extra hour which we weren't getting, and now they are closing early? What a rip off. We ended up paying for 5 hours and only got three. Never again. Rip off.
Some other travelers mentioned a wristband for access to their rooms and vending machines. We were never offered these, so when my little one wanted a snack, I had to go to the desk and get one, which never worked. Back to the desk. UNORGANIZED. Imagine all of that with a crying two year old in tow. Not fun.
My sister and I checked into the spa offerings and decided that they were far too over priced and passed on all.
The gift shop hours were never correct. It was almost always closed.
The outdoor roller coaster was actually fabulous. At $10.00 a person per ride it was a bit steep, but it was close to worth it. Try it!
Over all, we were looking for a family friendly resort in which to spend my birthday, and it was ok. The kids activities advertised never transpired.
Will we return? NO. Look elsewhere.
Room Tip: We chose a suite, room 217 A, B, and C. Looked much better online than in person. Says it can fit...
