“A really charming place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2011

My family stayed here for two days while visiting the hall of fame and other local attractions. This B&B was a delightful place to stay.

The positives:
-A great location, just a block from main street and a five minute walk from the hall of fame
-Great breakfast served, weather permitting, on the front porch
-Clean room and bathroom (stayed in the Natty Bumpo room which had its own bathroom)
- Free Wifi throughout the building/porch
-The proprieters, Doug and Sue, were very nice and accomodating

The negative:
-The mattress was pretty uncomfortable, so we didn't get a great night sleep
-At $249/night, might not be the best value around

Overall, we enjoyed it and I'd recommend it. Perhaps the mattress wouldn't be an issue for others, but my wife and I found it "challenging".

“Cozy and Friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 June 2011

My husband and I stayed here while traveling for our business for 4 days in Cooperstown. Inkeeper Sue treated us like family and we felt as if we were staying in a friend's home. Her brother Doug has a photo album that shows the years of work they all have put into their B&B, and you can tell a lot of love and hard work has gone into it. Sue made hearty breakfasts for us each day with eggs, bacon, sausage, and even French toast. She gets fresh foods from her local farmer friends! Homemade cranberry muffins and banana bread were brought in daily by one of the staff, and for lighter eaters, fruit and cereal was available each day. We had the Library Suite, which we found to be comfy and spacious. The value was very good for small business owners like us. The place was immaculately clean and well kept. We have a couple of suggestion though. Since the floors are pretty creeky due to the historic age of the home, perhaps some kind of oil treatment could be done to reduce the floor walking noise. Also, there are a lot of beautiful antiques and delicate decor around the home, so folks with younger and/or noisy children might not find it to be the right fit for them. Otherwise, we thought it was great for couples looking for a quiet and home-away feeling. Oh, the wi-fi worked great!! If you are in Cooperstown for business or need to stay connected while on vacation, this was probably one of the best wi-fi experiences we ever had while traveling ever! No outages and it was pretty fast compared to many others we've experienced. There was no extra charge for wi-fi, which we always appreciate and often makes or breaks a decision for us for any location. Thanks Sue and Doug for the great stay.

“Nice stay and great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 June 2011

We spent two nights at the 2 Chestnut and were quite pleased. We were traveling with two 12-year-olds, so we had the Third Floor Suite. Both bedrooms were roomy and inviting and the bathroom was clean and spacious. (And there were plenty of towels. On this trip, every place else we stayed seemed to have towel-rationing in place.) The made-to-order breakfast was nice--everything was fresh/local. Do not pass up the bread! The location was good...it was a couple of blocks to Main St and the lake was easily accessible. We would definitely stay here again.

“Charming B & B but terrible for sleeping”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2009

2 Chestnut is a charming B & B, beautifully decorated, and immaculate. Doug and Sue were lovely, very welcoming and gracious. The breakfast was good, not copious, but adequate if you're not a big eater. My only disappointment was the bed. We stayed in the Natty Bumpo room and the mattress was NOT queen size, (it was full or double), and extremely uncomfortable! Neither one of us could sleep. I'm sorry to say I would never consider staying there again unless the bed was replaced.

“Comfortable and Well Located”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2009

We stayed at 2 Chestnut over a summer weekend. While the Glimmerglass Opera was what brought us to Cooperstown, we first-time visitors found a lot to do in the area, from hiking to walking through town to visiting the Baseball Hall of Fame. Two Chestnut is a marvelous spot from which to tour the area. It is located just a short distance from the lakefront on a beautiful street, and is a short walk to any of the attractions in the town center.

Our hosts were very genial, our room extremely comfortable and well furnished. Having a couple of arm chairs in one room makes sitting out showers or just taking a break to read very easy and pleasant. Breakfast was delicious. The house is beautiful inside and out, and conveys the feeling of a familiar place visited rather than "lodging."

A wonderful place to stay.
