My husband and I have made several trips to Cooperstown and to change things up a little we decided to stay at the Landmark Inn. I am, to a fault, very picky so the switch made me a little nervous.
We arrived mid-day and were greeted by the very knowledgeable and warm innkeeper. After we had settled in, and since the inn was quiet, the inn keeper was hospitable enough to show my husband and I around the inn and feed our love of architecture and home design. We were also given a brief history of the property.
Our room was small but lovely. It was very clean and we wanted for nothing in terms of room provisions. My only criticism of the room is a small one and it would be that, as another reviewer mentioned, we were perpetually saving our pillows that fell off the back of the bed due to a lack of proper headboard. As well, the room was in desperate need of a new mattress and needed to be moved away from the wall so that we were not forced to crawl over one another in the middle of the night if one of us needed to get out of bed. In my opinion, if an establishment is going to be a B & B it’s important to have a great bed!
Breakfast was wonderful, homemade, fresh and delightfully different every day. And as someone who loves attention to detail, I truly appreciated the use of different and beautiful china and glassware at each breakfast.
For the most part, the inn was quiet and private even though it was fully booked during our stay. Truly the only thing I missed from our usual B & B choice in Cooperstown was fresh lemonade on the veranda. Overall, I would not hesitate to stay at the Landmark again, though we will likely try a different room and hope for an improvement in the bed.
