“Lovely, Cozy & Relaxing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2011

*Please note that I was unable to choose the correct month and year I stayed here, as TripAdvisor only gave dates over the past year as options. My husband and I stayed here during our honeymoon in early August of 2006, only days after the Hall of Fame induction. We were taking a road trip across New York state, and being a life-long baseball fan, my husband requested that part of our trip be devoted to Cooperstown. When booking through our travel agent at AAA, we were given many options, and almost went with what we would ordinarily choose for hotel accommodations, (a Holiday Inn Express), but opted instead to try one of the many B&B's that Cooperstown has to offer. I am so happy we went with the Green Apple Inn! When we arrived midday at the inn, there was a sign welcoming us, and our room key was left out for us to find. I'd done my research beforehand, and specified that we wanted the Granny Smith Room, which featured a lovely antique canopy bed, and an attached bathroom with a clawfoot tub and little homemade soaps that smelled like green apples. At night, we cracked open a window and had absolutely our best night's sleep during our entire trip. In the morning, we joined an older couple, (who had been staying in another room), in the enclosed porch for a homemade breakfast, courtesy of the B&B's owner, who, incidentally, was absolutely warm and welcoming. Although we spent only a day or two there, (the rest of our trip was spent in Niagra Falls and Manhattan), our stay in Cooperstown was absolutely our favorite part, and we have the Green Apple Inn to thank for that. I hope we'll have the chance to stay there again someday.

Room Tip: Do some research. The "inn" is really just a house converted into a bed and breakfast, so...

“The worst "hotel" experience ever”

I booked this "hotel" through Orbitz. Neither the description of the hotel nor the confirmation indicated that the room I am booking does NOT have its own bathroom facilities, certainly a standard feature in the US for rooms costing over $150 per night. When we arrived, there was NOONE on the premises, but some notes were left by the front door on how to find our room. That is when we found out the lack of private bathroom facilities. When we called the hotel's phone number, there was no reply, not even an answering machine. We called Orbitz and they succeeded to get in touch with them and told us that somebody will come to take care of us. In about half an hour somebody arrived. My wife explained that I have medical problems that involves lack of mobility and need for frequent toilet use and she was told that that is our problem and we can take the room or leave it, but under any circumstances they will not reimburse us for the charge they made to our credit card already for the room. We, of course, had to find another place (it was cheaper and naturally had a private bathroom with the bedroom). and we are now trying through Orbiz to get reimbursed our credit card charge.

The issue the clients had was really with the booking agent or just not thoroughly reading their confirmation. They also, arrived around 7PM. I actually had not heard from them so I did not know if they were coming. I had to go out for a short bit so I was not their when they arrived. My cell phone was promenantly displayed so they could reach me and I was there within 15 min at the most.. I heard from Orbitz not from the client that they were at the property.

Yes, it was like staying with your grandma. The lady was very nice and everything was clean. The only thing that creeped me out was the history of Cooperstown.

“Great B & B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2007

We stayed at the Green Apple Inn on August 14, 2007. the B & B was cozy and delightful. The Crispin room was perfect for a family of 3. The room w/ the twin bed was attached to our room . Karen was friendly and hospitable. She went out of her way to get my son chocolate milk for breakfast. Breakfast was delicious, the homemade blueberry cake and apple pancakes were great. Would recommend this B & B.

“Great Experience”

Staying here was just like staying at your grandmothers house. Everything was perfect. The sleeping rooms were well appointed and the bed was very comfortable. Leave the windows open and you will here the night sounds from the lake and village. Karen, the innkeeper, was a perefect host. Breakfast was old style. The Inn is a 5 block walk to the main area of town. I would suggest walking along the lake.
