I booked the White House Inn for three nights for a group of six (two families of three, each with two adults and a child). Because of a booking error on their part (an overlap of our first night with the last night of another group's reservation of the same suite), they offered to put us up for our first night in the Landmark Inn, which they also own, at a substantial discount. We accepted, and it turned out that the Landmark was an excellent inn, so we are glad to have discovered both for less than the price of just the one (see my separate review of the Landmark Inn). As for this inn, everything was just great. The inn is charming inside and out, with several staircases, winding hallways, nooks and crannies, and a great two-bedroom carriage house suite (where we stayed). The rooms were clean and the owners were on site a lot and very friendly and helpful (for instance, a light bulb was out, and they immediately replaced it and apologized for the inconvenience). The breakfasts here were top notch. The owner made it himself both days (I'm not even sure he had any help with the cooking; he had some help with the service). Both days started with fresh fruit and mini-muffins, then a decadent breakfast course with a side of delicious large slabs of bacon (you don't go to a B&B for weight watchers food). The first day's decadent breakfast course was french toast, and the second day's was a cottage-cheese-based pancake with a lemony triple-berry syrup. These things were unique and delicious, and the owner and his staff were so friendly in the service of the delicious food that we wouldn't have minded if they had just sat down and eaten with us. Juice and coffee flowed freely and was fine as well. This is what you are looking for in a B&B. We would certainly like to stay here again the next time we come to Cooperstown (or in the Landmark -- especially if Ed gets his breakfast skills going over at the Landmark as well).
