“A stay at the Cooper Inn is an essential part of a trip to Cooperstown.”

This past April, we spent several days in Cooperstown New York which is known for being the home of the Baseball Hall of Fame. We stayed at The Cooper Inn at the recommendation of a coworker. Staying at The Cooper Inn added to the ambiance of a very pleasant vacation. Situated on Chestnut Street just off Main Street, The Cooper Inn places you in short walking distance to the Baseball Hall of Fame, restaurants, and baseball shops in town, yet it is recessed back from the streets. This allows you the convenience to drop off packages or get a jacket without needing to use your car. The Cooper Inn has a historic atmosphere with a modern bathroom and flat screen TV. We stayed in a two bedroom suite which was very nice and very clean. The continental breakfast was better than I expected with tables in a cozy room with a fireplace. Styrofoam cups and lids are available to bring coffee back to the room. The staff at the Cooper Inn is exceptional, very friendly, and helpful. They answered all my questions about Cooperstown, recommended restaurants, and gave directions to attractions in the area. One staff person, in particular, told me where an attendant pumping gas station was located and explained how the stream runs behind the Inn. We enjoyed our stay so much that I purchased a Cooper Inn Christmas ornament. We hope to return to Cooperstown in the near future. We could not conceive of a future trip to Cooperstown that did not include staying at The Cooper Inn.

Room Tip: Make your reservation as early as possible.

“Very nice overnight stay at the Cooper Inn”

I cannot say enough about our stay at the Cooper Inn this past weekend. My boyfriend and I received this special weekend as a Christmas gift from my sister. The inn is in a very good location, walking distance to everything including the Baseball Hall of Fame. Plenty of on-site parking which is really a plus. Rooms are spotless, quiet, and the bathrooms are large and they provide plenty of anemities. They also give you the option to use The Otesaga Resort Hotel which is also beautiful and in walking distance, they offer use of their gym, pool and restaurants. Breakfast is served downstairs in the parlor and is enough to start off your day. Staff is courteous and helpful. Beverages are available to guests throughout the day. Also if you are looking for a nice place to eat we suggest Nicoletta's Italian Cafe which is right on the main street. This is our third enjoyable visit to Cooperstown and not our last. I would definitely stay at the Cooper Inn when we decide to go back in the future. Keep up the good work!

“Great Stay”

This was our second visit to Cooperstown. My boyfriend and I had a very nice stay the first time at another local Inn, but we wanted to try this place for something different. We loved the Cooper Inn. My sister and her boyfriend traveled with us and stayed in the room across from ours. They were very pleased , too. Our room was very large and had a homey feel. The bed was comfortable. Our bathroom was huge, which is unusual for an older place like that. The staff are very nice. There is always somebody at the front desk to take care of you if you need them. It's within walking distance of the Hall of Fame, but most of the Inns in Cooperstown are. They serve a continental breakfast, which was enough for us. If you are looking for something hot, you can go to the nearby Otesaga Resort, about 2 blocks away and receive a special guest price for breakfast. You also have access to all of the amenities at the Otesaga Resort, like the gym and pool . That place is gorgeous. We spent some time in there just sitting on the porch taking in the view of the lake. We had a great stay at the Cooper Inn. I would definitely return.

Beautiful setting that was in the town so everything was within walking distance. Very clean. Staff was polite, attentive and helpful. Very discreet, yet available. Tasty continental breakfast. Quiet. Lovely view of the creek behind the hotel. Reasonable price. So comfortable, I slept right through the alarm clock. It felt as if I was a guest in a friend's home.

“Good Until we checked out. Charged us for Smoking when we didnt”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2010

The location was great. Its in walking distance to attractions and is a very beautiful place. We had a great time until...

We checked out and everything was fine. A few days later we receved a statement that showed $250 smoking charge. We didn't smoke in the room. Their proof was a stryofoam cup that they said had ash in it. It actually had Oreo cookie remnants in there. I tried explaining this to the manager but he wasn't hearing it.

Also said they had free wifi in the rooms but it wasnt working. Luckily a nearby medical center also had free wifi that worked.

Its a shame because their sister property, The Otesaga, is a beautiful resort and we were planning to stay a week in the summer but now I will choose a different place
