“FRAUD, NO GUEST SECURITY CHECK, Incorrectly billed for extra room.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2010

We had 2 rooms and were billed for 3. I saw this when I got my credit card statement, and contacted both my credit card company, and the hotel. I eventually got through to some manager who said there was fraud on my account. He kept changing his story when I asked why there was no verification of guest identity. Obviously this person was not the credit card holder. Manager said he had to call the police, to resolve this. I was angered that he made false accusations, and wrote to corporate that told me they were to resolve this issue by today, and I still have not heard anything. I know my credit card company will find a resolution and I won't be held responsible, but it angers me that this happened in the first place.
The hotel itself was a dump. Badly in need of major renovations. Not at all worth a penny they ask for.

“Location was convenient, but never again.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 June 2010

It was warm out, and the Hallways were just as warm. Toilet would not flush, at all. Had to use our neighbors, thank god they were our friends! Was Not able to use the whirlpool tub cuz a knob was missing. No remote for tv. Coffee pot, but no coffee or cups or condiments for the Coffee Pot. Called front desk about toilet, and the phone just rang! ONE PERSON on for the whole place on a Saturday night!!!!! Continental breakfast was decent. Lady was nice that was taking care of it. Kudos to Karen at front desk and to the girl who ran it Sat. night. I feel bad for them!

“The worst hotel ever”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2009

This is not even a good, basic hotel. I had to rent 2 rooms since no double beds were available & the AC did not work in one of the rooms. The bathroom in one of the rooms smelled like dried pee and the vanity was filthy. The rooms were dirty: Hair everywhere, dust, and musty smelling. The rooms were out of bthrm tissue, tissues, and short of towels. The front desk employees were clearly less than thrilled to work there and didnt smile or engage in any polite conversation. The rooms werent ready by 3pm check in time.
Each room has a sliding glass door to the outside, which is scary since a lot of people and cars with tinted windows were hanging out in the parking lot. Not a friendly or safe neighborhood either. The pool is non existant. There is NO POOL.
The pictures featured on Trip Advisor lie - The hotel looks nothing like that. There are bent shades in every single window, the paint is chipping, and plastic chairs are in the lobby not soft cushy chairs as shown in the lobby pic. The rooms are pink and mustard yellow with mis-matching curtains and chairs. Everything in the rooms is out dated and absolutely filthy.

“Must to avoid”

Don't even think of booking a room here. Part of the hotel appears to be used as a welfare hotel and part by prostitutes. Despite the fact that our group had reserved 10 rooms, most of the rooms were unavailable when we checked in at 4pm. Each time a member of our party tried to check in, the clerk told us that the room was still occupied, but that she would go and ask the current occupants to leave. This happened numerous times. When the rooms became available, they were found to be filthly, with cigarette butts everywhere, mold, a terrible stench, etc.

“Met my expectations perfectly.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 April 2009

My experience at this hotel was perfectly fine. My room was immaculately clean (a first floor smoking room), everything in the room worked as it should, and I found the whole hotel to be in relatively good shape. All rooms here have the classic Howard Johnson sliding glass doors (with working double locks and security bar) to private balconies which is a nice change from most other hotels' small non-opening windows. The heat/air unit was a relatively new one and worked perfectly. I had no complaints about noise either as the walls seemed to be plenty thick. The hallways have clean fresh looking carpeting. The hotel provides complimentary continental breakfast and free wifi. No complaints from me. I am always satisfied with the Howard Johnson chain in general and this property is a true Howard Johnson classic. I hope they stay around as these locations have a lot of character and charm.
