“Wonderful, relaxing stay”

Just came back from a 3 night stay at Fern Lodge which was absolutely wonderful. We stayed in 'Birch' which was an amazing room, from it's massive bed to it's double sided fire place - the jacuzzi bath in front of one side was very nice. From the moment we arrived Sharon and Greg made us feel unbelievably welcome and the facilities at the lodge are brilliant if you just want to stay in and relax. We made use of their cinema room to watch Indiana Jones - with a large glass of wine in hand, very relaxing! Whilst there we were given tips on restaurants in the area, they even booked one up for our first night - The Friends Lake Inn, a great recommendation. We wanted to do snowmobiliing whilst we were there and Sharon researched on the internet somewhere for us to do it as the local ones were not available. Again this was booked up for us, we just had to turn up! If you go out for a walk near the lodge be sure to ask to take their dog Shadow with you - he came out with us twice and is a great companion. Breakfast was varied each day, all of them very delicious and cooked by Sharon. I really wish we could have stayed here longer, it would have been lovely to have had more than 3 days there. Hopefully we'll get to go back very soon.

Room Tip: Birch was one of the bigger rooms, so if you want space and a separate seating area go for this room...

“You won't want to leave!”

My husband and I had the joy of staying at Fern Lodge for a long weekend. If you are looking for a just-secluded-enough getaway that will leave you truly refreshed, look no further. First, the property itself is simply stunning...the lodge can best be described as rustic sophistication. It's got that lodge feel without being cheesy or overdone, the decor is very tasteful. From any window or patio (and there are lots of both), you will see fabulous views of both Friends Lake and the wooded surroundings. Our meticulously clean room had a tall stone fireplace, private screened porch, jacuzzi tub, separate steam shower, and wonderfully comfortable bed. I travel quite a lot, and usually have a hard time sleeping soundly in many hotels, even the upscale ones. Not here...the bed was great, and it's so quiet at night! What really elevates Fern Lodge from just a nice place to stay to an entirely pleasant experience is the Taylor family. Sharon and Greg take pride in their work and truly love being in the business, and it shows in everything they do. Sharon contacted me prior to our arrival with suggestions for dining in the area and in-room massages, as well as to make sure she would be home to personally greet us upon our arrival. She made breakfast for us each morning and cheerfully served us. Greg is in the wine business as well, and has an incredible wine collection. If you are lucky, you might get to enjoy some terrific wine and conversation with him and Sharon and even some of the other guests. Shadow, the friendly resident dog, is a perfect guide for a walk down to the lake. My husband and I will never forget him! Sharon and Greg have succeeded in creating a place where you can escape the hectic pace of your life, but still feel at home. We will definitely return to the Fern Lodge. The next trip will be in the spring or summer so we can see the extensive gardens around the house and take the kayaks out on the lake. Price-wise, this was a bit of a splurge for us, but given the experience, it was worth every penny. You will not be disappointed!

“Luxurious splurge!”

My fiance and I stayed her for a weekend getaway. The property is gorgeous and something you may see highlighted on the Travel Channel. The rooms were amazing with vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, floor to ceiling stone fireplaces, large comfy beds, multi-person steam shower and jacuzzi tubs. It was a very relaxing fall weekend. The hosts are welcoming and breakfast was fantastic. We went on a nice walk around the area with the hosts adorable puppy following. Now you do pay for the experience, but it is well worth it.

“A hidden Oasis!”

What a great place!
We only managed to get one night there but managed to get in a lovely afternoon walk a wonderful sunset cruise with wine and snacks. Plenty of dinner choices locally and plenty of space to relax on the property. Great breakfast in the morning that fueled us for the glass like lake kayaking we did courtesy of the inn. Luxuriously appointed but not pretentious, idyllic and private setting and a warm welcome that will "get" what you need.
We need to find an excuse to go back.

Room Tip: From what I could work out all rooms have a fantastic lake view, all with porches too.

Luxuriously comfortable, warm hosts, clean, ever tying you could need or want. Breakfast was delicious, afternoon wine was lovely. View from our room was beautiful and Shadow was a delight. Perfect way to end our honeymoon! Wouldn't hesitate to go again, but this time for longer.
