Recently stayed here and enjoyed the location and inn keeper. This is an old home in need of some repair but adequate for a night or two stay. Small rooms with small TV's A little noisy upfront by road. Room rates a little high for the off season. Breakfast almost non-existent, Just a small apple pie, coffee, tea and sausage. No eggs, pancakes etc. Felt a little insecure since front door to house did not lock, only your room lock,

Wow! What a shock! I served an individual upside-down apple pancake in a deep-dish (like an onion soup bowl). I make it from scratch with lot's of fresh chopped apples, butter, cinnamon, brown sugar, raisins and walnuts. Then I pour a special pancake batter over the top and bake until it becomes brown and the contents are bubbling through. I call this a 'Dutch Baby' and most of my guests are absolutely delighted with it. I serve it with ham & sausage. I always ask if my guests would like something else and usually get a resounding, "No, thank you...this was more than enough & wonderful!" I am often asked for the recipe...so, here it is :-)
This is really a first for me in the 12 years I've been an innkeeper.
The house was built in 1840 and is usually granted some grace for the fact that it is not intended to be technologically advanced or in perfect condition but wireless internet access is provided. Cherry Valley is a tiny community…very quiet and no crime. NONE of our rooms share a bath! My sincere apologies to this guest...but just a mention of the need for a larger breakfast would have been perfectly in order! How can I fix something if I have no idea there's a problem?
