If you are going to Cooperstown, NY and want to stay over in a charming B&B in the area, I highly recommend 42 Montgomery Street B&B. The rooms are lovely and so is the proprietor, Melanie. We stayed in the Bay Window Room and it was so beautiful and we had our own private bathroom which was just a few feet away in the hall. Even the bathroom has a charm to it as it was a few steps down and cleans as could be. Each morning we were treated to a home cooked breakfast, as Melanie made a different breakfast each day. Her breakfasts alone are worth the trip. Melanie gave us good advice on what to see in Cooperstown and the surrounding areas. She also told us about a great place to have dinner in Cherry Valley called The Rose and Kettle.

Just spent a lovely night in a charming, clean and quiet "upfront" room at 42 Montgomery. Strolled over to the local Rose and Kettle restaurant for a delicious dinner. Enjoyed my fresh-out-of-the-oven Dutch Baby at breakfast. The proprietor, Melanie, was exceptionally helpful and thoughtful. I would definitely stay there again next time I'm in the area.

Recently stayed here and enjoyed the location and inn keeper. This is an old home in need of some repair but adequate for a night or two stay. Small rooms with small TV's A little noisy upfront by road. Room rates a little high for the off season. Breakfast almost non-existent, Just a small apple pie, coffee, tea and sausage. No eggs, pancakes etc. Felt a little insecure since front door to house did not lock, only your room lock,

It is a unique and wonderful thing to show up at an unknown persons home and find a friend waiting there for you. The room was fabulous and attention to small details were much appreciated. The bed and bedding was luxurious. A very important feature for me! I had told Melanie that I only eat organic and she went to the trouble to make sure there was organic milk there for my coffee in the morning. Even my friends don't do that! I would definitely show up on 42 Montgomery's doorstep again!
