“Big bathroom, average room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

The room was very standard. It had a nice TV, decent bed, and pretty big bathroom (although there was no curtain to the shower area - it was more like a shower nook). The room itself was a bit small. The breakfast had eggs as well as the usual array of cold food. The coffee was bad, but what do you expect?

Not too many options for dining if you don't have a car, which I didn't. There's a bar/restaurant attached to the hotel that you should only visit if you are dying of hunger.

Thank you for choosing our Best Western Plus. All guest concerns are addressed during staff meetings and with department heads. The additional concerns with the restaurant next to our hotel has also been addressed with their management staff.

“Not Horrible”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

Stayed here for 2 nights over the first weekend of 2012. Booked two adjoining rooms on the first floor: one "2 double beds" and a "queen bed" for 5 family members.

Clean, well-maintained hotel with friendly staff. Located reasonably close to Galleria mall, local stores (save-a-lot, a dollar store and a liquor store) and all kinds of eatery: McDonalds within walking distance, some desent looking bar and grill right next door, IHOP and Tim Horton's within a 10-minute drive.

Variety of choice for breakfast: eggs, waffles, oat meal, muffins, yogurt, juice... Staff would ensure everything was available even 20 minutes prior to the end of breakfast time.

There were very comfortable beds in both rooms with 4 pillows on each one, both rooms had flat screen TVs. One of the rooms had an oversized bathroom, which was great. Windows in both rooms looked out to a glassed hallway, which gave enough sunlight but kept the rooms insulated of any street noise (3 coaches parked and 1 truck took off over night and neither of us heard any noise). The hall ways were quite cold (with around 0C outside).

When speaking of noise, I must mention the only reason I can't rate this hotel excellent: the noise from the heater fan. It's was absolutely intolerable! I gave up on trying to fall asleep and went for a walk at 4 am. It turned out the next day that part of the family, who stayed in the adjoining room had the same problem and 4 out of 5 us did not sleep for most of the night. It seemed impossible to have the heat on without the fan blowing. Staff had no clue either.

For that same reason I will definitely explore other hotel options, when staying in Buffalo area next time.

Room Tip: Bring ear plugs in case you get a room with a noisy heater.

“Convenient and good price, but where's the PLUS?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

We have stayed here on two separate occasions. Both times we have had a king suite room with a pull-out sofa. The first time was during a two-night shopping trip and, most recently, enroute home from a vacation. The rooms were a reasonable size, the beds were very comfortable and the microwave and refrigerator worked well. My adult daughter noted that the pull-out sofa was very comfortable. A good mattress made for a good night's sleep. The room lighting seems dark due to the fact that the only window looks out onto the enclosed corridor. It looks as if the rooms were once reached by an external corridor and now that corridor has been enclosed to create inside walk-ways. The shower stall (there was no tub) was akward to use. It is hard to explain the configuration. Again, this was probably a renovation project. The shower reminded us of a locker-room shower. THAT makes us wonder where the PLUS comes from in this hotel's status. As we were on our way home from vacation, having had several different hotel's continental breakfasts, we definately felt that the offered breakfast was adequate and tasty. Nothing overly special or surprising but a good variety of food items was available. All in all, we would stay at this hotel again when in the area.

“Not bad, but not great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

We stayed 2 nights Dec 27, 28 2011 using BW points so basically the room was free for us as we accumulate a lot of points from travelling for work.

I wouldn't really call this a BW plus. We travel a lot at BW and this isn't really a typical plus.

The weirdest thing about this hotel is the room has one window and it faces out to the hallway. By hallway it is because I think it was a motel at one time where the rooms faced outside so those room windows face to the hallway, hard to explain but anyway because of this the rooms tend to be very dark as you don't want to sit with the curtain wide open sitting on the bed when the window faces the hallways and anyone can see in.
Having said that if you want a clean hotel for a nice to sleep and hang out between shopping jaunts to Galleria mall then it's a great hotel.
The bathroom does not have an exhaust fan so it gets pretty stuffy after a shower, but no big deal
We were on the 2nd and when trying to get in our room the door didn't work, it was stuck so after the front desk guy also tried to get it open they gave us another room. The heater unit in the room is a small unit on the wall pushing out warmish air....let's say not that great of heat. We were going to ask for another room but having already got a new room with the door problem we didn't want to bother again.

Continential breakfast was the normal fare of muffins, toast, waffles, fruit, yogurt, scrambled eggs, etc. It was very busy both mornings and we had a hard time getting somewhere to sit.

all and all for the price of this hotel a good place to rest your head.

“A "nice" hotel”

We stayed overnight to do some shopping in the area. Room was smallish but comfortable. Shower was oversized. We were at this hotel when it was a Holiday Inn Express. While the hotel still has a continental breakfast with hot items, it didn't seem to be quite as good as what I recall from HI Express.

With the rate we had (less than typical HI Express), it was a good value.
