My wife and I were on an overnight trip to Buffalo and this was our second stay at this hotel.
The hotel is located just off the exit ramp, in a residential neighbourhood. Check-in took no time at all; the clerk was courteous and efficient. Note that during our stay, a building was being demolished in the yard of this hotel (I believe it was the former Mexican restaurant); the front desk lady suggested that we took the room facing the street, and we thank her for that. No work was being done on the demolition site over the weekend anyway, but we didn’t have to watch the pile of rubble and did not endure any noise from the highway.
The hotel is in great shape. My wife and I pay very close attention to cleanliness, and we have nothing to report on this one. The bathroom was bright and clean and the room was in good condition. Clean, new bedding, stain-free blanket and chairs. The fridge was already on and cool by the time we arrived.
Some hotels have a mirror mounted in front of the bed or across from it, which can be quite irritating. This hotel has a nifty feature: if you still wish to see your own reflection while in bed, a large mirror door swings open. You can close it again if reflection isn’t your thing.
The bed was firm enough and soft enough at the same time. It was a bit high off the floor, but some people may find it appealing. I often sleep on my side, so the pillows were just perfect for that; they might have been a bit too firm for someone sleeping on their tummy or on the back.
In the morning, we were treated to a generous breakfast, which included staples such as coffee, tea, juices, cereals, yogurt, fresh fruit, bagels, bread, sausage, omelet, cheese and other goodies. For us, the centrepiece was two waffle makers and three types of batter. We couldn’t possibly try everything that was offered for breakfast that morning. However, our Canadian hearts could not rejoice in consuming maple syrup, as only regular table syrup was being served. It would be ideal if Canadian or New England maple syrup were available.
By the way, this hotel has 24-hour fruit and juice service in the breakfast room.
The pool is separated from the breakfast area by a glass wall and is actually pleasing to the eye due to a fountain-like feature at its end. The pool is not deep, must be 1.5 metres.
Imperfections? There were few. One for me was that the window was not designed to open, therefore I could not figure out a way to let some fresh air in. It is possible that the heating/cooling unit was bringing air in from outside, but then you’d have to run the unit 24/7. Not a big complaint and this design is probably great for sound insulation, but it was unusual that the window wouldn’t open.
Overall, a fantastic stay and we look forward to staying again.
