My husband and I enjoyed an anniversary getaway at the Sutherland House on August 3-5, 2007. Our room was Lillian's Lounge and it couldn't have been nicer! The owners, Gary and Bonnie, are wonderful people and place great value on the comfort of their guests. In addition to the cold refreshments in the refrigerator outside the rooms, there were candies and snacks inside the room. Additionally, throughout the Inn, there were tables stocked with brownies and cookies, tea, etc. So welcoming! Each room is air-conditioned and equipped with a cd player and some very relaxing classical cds. Rooms also have dvds-vcrs and you can borrow movies from a nice collection at the registration desk. The public rooms are also quite comfortable, especially the dining room where a full breakfast is served each morning. Don't skip it! It is TREMENDOUS and well worth getting up for a delicious meal and conversation with other guests. The property itself is on a country road so it's quiet and peaceful. My very favorite thing about the Inn is the huge old copper beechnut tree that stands outside the main entrance. The owners have placed a brick patio with tables and chairs directly beneath the tree. We spent several hours there in the evenings enjoying a bottle of wine, the tree, the fresh country air, and distant fireworks. I would recommend this Inn to all adults who appreciate beautiful historic homes.
