We stayed at the Sutherland House for a long weekend and can't wait to go back. The rooms are comfortable and even the smallest details are seen to. Breakfast was good and socializing with other guests gave us plenty of ideas for things to do. I'd recommend this place to anyone.

My wife and I stayed in the Dutch Treat Suite for three nights in July. The innkeeper, Gary, is very warm and gracious and does a nice job to make you feel welcome. Gary is very helpful with directions, help with restaurant reservations and such. The inn is very clean, and serves a seated full breakfast each morning at 9am (menu of the day selected by Gary). We enjoyed staying here and would stay again if we come to the area.

The Sutherland House was an exceptional B&B on a beautiful farm setting. Rooms were well appointed and quiet. A great value for the region. The breakfast was exceptional. Gary, the host, was most hospitable and directed you to anything you needed.

Sutherland House, Canandaigua, lets you take a step back to that bygone era of 19th century North America when the fruits of hard work in forging the prosperity of a great country could be realised in the provision of a substantial, comfortable, beautifully designed and appointed, American home. The restoration of the house has been so well done and the faithful reproduction of the standards of the time, means that a visit there leaves one with the feeling of literally 'living in the past' without leaving the present. Breakfast time is especially good with all the guests sitting at a big 'family' table just like a gathering of long lost cousins brought together in the home of a family member. Strangers but somehow maybe connected. Conversation is strangely easy and at once pleasurable, and the food is uniquely satisfying. Well worth a visit.
