“Give Villa Roma a chance”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I read many reviews about the Villa Roma while trying to plan a weekend getaway for my parents & their friends. Most of them were not favorable. Having been guests of the resort many years ago, I decided to contact the hotel and spoke to a lovely lady in their reservations department. I told her about the reviews that I had read. She assured me that my group would be staying in the renovated rooms at the resort, and pretty much guaranteed that they would have a positive experience while guests there, and they did. They were happy with their rooms, and they thoroughly enjoyed the food, service and activities. I am glad that we gave the Villa Roma a chance to prove themselves to us.

Room Tip: Ask for renovated suites

The place is beautiful and so are the views. They really care and continue to put money into it.

Room Tip: Try for the newer rooms/units.

“Dierty Room, poor service, below-average food.”

Went for 3 nights from Dec. 30 through Jan 2. Made it only through the 1st of January though. We new it's not a new resort, but didn't expect to see literall dirty walls in the room. Service in the restaurant was horrible, even though I hate to use this word. On our first night, kids were waiting for their food for an hour!!!!! An it was not served before I complained to the manager.
On the night on January 1, we were not even served food in the restaurant, they served us food in the launch, which was extremely uncomfortable. The restaurant just had no tables available. (After paying 1,520.00 for three nights). Reception desk personnel was not accommodating at all, actually I would say, they were nasty. They wouldn't even give out there names.... whatever, we checked out a night before we were supposed to, not to ruin our holiday mood for our own money....

“Service definitely without the smile”

Coach in the room was stained as was the chair, musty, hallways were freezing, staff could not have been ruder. Called to see if ice skating is open and told absolutely. Spend 20 minutes to dress up four kids, get to rink and they say sorry, we close for resurfacing from 3-4. We wait across the street, I see they don't do anything, show back up at 4:05 for the girl on her cell to tell me we are closed till 4:30. I mention the sign says 4pm, she stomps past me to go outside, reads the sing and says fine I guess you're right and proceeds to throw me skates. One story to sum up an awful weekend! Do not go!!

“Timeshare stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

Just returned from long weekend at Villa Roma Resort - we stayed in timeshare suite.
Pros: Indoor swimming pool. Security readily responded when we complained about noisy neighbors upstairs (at 1 am). Great little ski hill for beginners - on Friday night we got our daughter a one-on-one 1-hour lesson and rentals for $16. Ski instructor, Sadie, was excellent. Ample space in suite unit with 2 BR, 2 baths, kitchen, dining and living space plus small porch. Frequent shuttle.
Cons: Timeshare suites are noisy. We stayed on 1st floor and could hear every step, closet door opening, voices from above. Although the ski chalet advertised lessons for 3-year-olds, they did not have boots small enough to accommodate her feet properly (she still took the lesson - we doubled up on socks). Ice skating rink cost seemed expensive (perhaps it is less expensive for hotel guests?). Jacuzzi bath in unit spit on black flecks of something when we used it.
I did not rate value - this is my parent's timeshare so we had a deal through them.

Room Tip: For timeshare units, choose upstairs to reduce noise (lots of noise from walking, talking and doors...
