Stayed at this place for 1 night as it was a stopover.

Pros: 1) Front desk staff very friendly and helpful in giving directions as to local restaurants. 2) got a great price $52/night. As this stay was a stopover, didn't want to spend alot of money. 3) bed was very comfortable, not too hard or soft. 4) free continental breakfast was plentiful (cereal, oatmeal, bagels, juice, make your own waffles). 5) the room was clean.

Cons: 1) Not right off the highway. 10-15 min ride into the city. 2) Parking lot not well lit. Arrived after 9pm. Had to park at the back of hotel. Lots of locals hanging out. Didn't know if my car would be safe, but it was fine the next morning. 3) hallways and room smelled musty. 4) Left hotel do get somethng to eat. Told restaurants were within walking distance. Most restaurants were closed which surprised us because it was a Saturday night. 5) the neighborhood was "questionable". Lots of rundown buildings and lots of locals "hanging out".

Overall, we had a good night's sleep and were on the road again at 7am. Would we stay again? Unlikely. Was it all that bad? Could have been worse.

We stayed at the Days Inn Binghamton on our way to Washington, DC. The hotel is very tired. Room is run down and old. It was clean. Never made it to the pool.
Continental breakfast is very minimal - cereal, bagels, donuts (and not very fresh).
You get what you pay for here.
very big plus - staff was very helpful! Forget the girl at the desk when we arrived - blonde from NY - she was wonderful!!

Here is my story, the same one I sent to the hotel manager 48 hours ago and have had no response.
I had the displeasure to stay Thursday night, August 18th, at the Binghamton Days Inn. Upon entry to check in there were persons loitering in the parking lot, openly drinking beer around their trucks. Being a single woman traveling with 2 children under age 18, it was an uncomfortable situation. I was held up at check in because the desk clerk kept answering the phone and going into lengthy conversations with the caller about room rates, etc... Perhaps placing them on hold while finishing up the first transaction (my check in) would have been more customer oriented. I was asked to sign a form that said if I smoked in the room I would be charged a fee, which I gladly signed as I'd reserved a non-smoking room. I believe I was placed in room 251. After unloading baggage and inspecting the room I noticed that the deadbolt did not fully engage as did not the metal bar above it. I called this into the desk clerk immediately and was told that no maintenance person was on staff that evening to assist. I asked to be moved to a room with a working lock. I was told that there were no other smoking rooms available. I spoke up at this time saying that I'd reserved a non-smoking room and a replacement non-smoking room would be just fine. Thereupon I was told that room 251 was a smoking room and they'd run out of non-smoking rooms. Why then did I bother to reserve (in advance - paid in full) a non-smoking room? I was told that since rooms are all secured with an electronic lock I had nothing to fear. I then asked to speak with a manager and were told none was on duty till 3:00pm the following day. This did me no good as I was only booked for 1 night and would be gone by then. I'd also asked why there were so many trucks in the lot and was told that those belonged to the many long term residents that worked in the area. Nothing wrong with that except they hang out in the parking lot openly drinking beer. I found the condition of the room to be completely filthy. The bathroom floor did not appear to have been swept. There was mold growing on the shower curtain. The toilet hadn't been wiped, I did that myself with a soaped up washcloth. The rug didn't appear to have been cleaned in ages. Wallpaper is lifting from the walls. The AC never got cold. In the morning upon leaving I found the exit door near the pool to have been kept open with a rock. So much for safety. Do yourself a favor and stay in the hotels in town over near the university. I only wish I'd taken pictures of the filth I could post here.



I would expect better from a Wyndham property. I've never seen such filth in a hotel room and been treated with such a lack of concern from the employees. I am requesting a full refund from this stay. How are you going to go about this?

This is a vey inexpensive hotel 5min from Binghamton College. The elevator takes 2 tries to get to a floor. We needed to go to another floor for ice and the vending machine had no soda of any kind. To get to the unheated indoor pool you must walk the outside length of the building and have a pool key. There is the basic breakfast but it was a small eating area. The room was clean, plenty of hot water. Bring your own soap as theres leaves you sticky.So for less then $80 a night, it is a no frills clean comfy bed.
