We did find a used towel in our room and the shower floor looked a little dirty but overall for a Motel 6 we were pleased. The staff (lady at check-in) was very friendly and really helped this hotel get a better rating than I may have given otherwise.

The area appeared clean and felt reasonably safe (never lose awareness of your surroundings when traveling). Did not make a reservation; check-in was quick. Staff member was friendly, professional, and very helpful. Wi-Fi was about $3 USD extra; it worked well. The facility appears well worn but repairs have clearly been made. The swimming pool was active with people. Room door had the security card entry system. Very basic room and furnishings that I expect of Motel 6. Room was clean; bathroom was clean. The mattress was definitely worn, but I did not lose sleep - I can sleep almost anywhere. One of the towels was a little worn but not unusable. The AC unit appears to have been recently replaced; it made the room quite cold on a very hot day.

Not bad. What I expect of Motel 6.

This is probably the least satisfactory Motel 6 I've ever stayed in; and, as a budget traveler, I frequently choose this chain. Fortunately, we were at the back of the motel so that road noise was not a problem; but that was one of the few advantages of our room. First, the door stuck--to open it, one had to ram it like a medieval knight battering down the entrance to an enemy castle. Inside, the carpet looked as if it hadn't been vacuumed for quite a while. The bathroom contained only a tiny remnant of one roll of toilet paper, and the desk clerk claimed that she was too busy to bring us more. And the swimming pool (though not needed by us) looked disgusting--partially filled with fetid water that looked as if it came from a swamp; the desk clerk said that they were waiting for an inspection--and at the end of July. When coming back through Tucumcari en route home, we found another motel. (I've checked "not sure" on the pool below since I'm not sure if a closed pool that looks like a stagnant swamp qualifies as an available pool or not.)

We will start with the fact that the blanket smelled and was probably left over and not cleaned after being used in a smoking room. When we wanted to shower, no hot water. To be fair, hot water was available later. The shower itself, umm, wasn't very clean. Have they not heard of bleach? Finally, the pool, which was advertised on the Motel 6 website was not functional...on the first day of August! Go elsewhere.
