My family and I stay at Motel Safari at least four times a year on our trips to see family in Texas. We travel from Colorado to Texas and Tucumcari is always our first and favorite stop! We have stayed in other Route 66 retro motels and Motel Safari is far and above the best. The best hosts (they even walk you to your room and give you a tour, who does that anymore?), the best prices and the best accommodations. The rooms are a blend of retro and modern conveniences that will make your stay comfortable but memorable. Decorated in the retro style, many folks may remember from those family vacations long ago, the rooms are absolutely the cleanest we have ever stayed in and that includes fancy five star hotels and luxury bed and breakfast inns. The beds are new and extremely comfortable, the towels plush and the best shower you will ever experience. You will definitely return and there is nowhere you can get more for your money. We love Motel Safari and will continue to stay there for many years to come.

Route 66 nostalgia doesn't come any more authentic than the Motel Safari, an updated property right on the former Route 66 in Tucumcari. Update accurately in the style of the times it was built. Furnishings are post WWII in style.

Their sign says "Squeaky Clean." I would add Spotless and Pristine. The owners obviously care about their property, They offer the best bedding I have ever enjoyed in any motel-hotel.

While presenting the property as "classic," todays' amenities have not been forgotten. Free WIFI; and the heating-AC units while retro looking, were as modern as they get, digital display and remote controlled.

When was the last time your motel had real keys on a ring with a plastic tag that stated "If found, drop in any mailbox?"

All in all, the Motel Safari offers top notch accommodation, retro or otherwise.

Third time staying here and found it to be as clean and cozy as in the past. Beds are fantastic. When I said clean, I'm not kidding. Far better than any chain. Retro decor is brings back memories.
