“A kind of hostel which costs like a inn”

When arriving at the Laughing Horse we were welcomed by Jinny, the manager. She showed us around and was very helpful. The place is a look-a-like- earthship. If you like the concept you find it interesting. But at USD 90 you get a double-bed room with shared bathroom and a simple breakfast. During the night it started to rain...not only outside but even inside our room - exactly on the bed!!! We were compelled to put the rubbish bin on the bed to collect the water and sleep squeezed together on one side of the bed. In the morning we got a discount of 30 USD, which obviously didn't cover for the "rainy" experience. So beware! The place looks peculiar but the price is far too high for the quality of rooms and service

“Like Coming home.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2009

Jeanne the Manager was attentive and warm. The (Chili) room was clean and comfortable. Each room in this unique bed and breakfast is its own. The Inn and its grounds are filled with little nooks and crannies to explore. More like coming home than staying out. We have stayed there before, and will again whenever we visit Taos. So much of the world is heading toward the corporate ideal. The Laughing Horse Inn is still small, reasonable, eclectic, artistic and fun. Rugged individualists, adventure seekers, artists, and lovers will find themselves most comfortable here.

“I have found my place to stay at in Taos”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2009

This was a great place. Coming from a person who owns their own cafe, pub and music venue this is a serious compliment. I though the house was charming and had much character and none of it was faked. Every bit of the charm was authentic. This is a nice place. My children 16 (boy) and 8 (girl) were also very satisfied. We all got to pick our own rooms. The kids stayed in one that had cabin, bunk styled beds and a small built in TV into the ceiling. My son found ample things to keep him occupied and my daughter was content. THis ca make for a vacation alone for parents. There is so much history behind this place that we have read and now we are happy to be a part of it. I have already recommended this place to friends. I will be back when I return with my family. The host was perfect for a live in host. There when needed but not in your personal space all the time. This is a very shared space. If you are looking for complete seclusion this offers it, but it also offers a community type atmosphere that allowed us to interact with other guests. Breakfast was perfect for my entire family. Thanks for the nice stay, my daughter was telling her grandparents about it today. Her feedback was good and so is mine.

I left an accessory to my Iphone there and the Host went out of her way to find it (on the ground outside) and get it back to me.
Thanks Laughing Horse.

“Your Hobbit fantasy in Taos”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2009

"With that, the hobbit turned and scuttled inside his round green door, and shut it as quickly as he dared, not to seem rude. Wizards after all are wizards."

We loved staying here; I think the negative reviews on this site came from a different era with different owners. This place is fantastic and completely original; in fact, each room is unique. The river that runs next to it is the same one that bisects the famous Taos Pueblo, and it is a short walk to the center of town (more fun to cut through the neighborhood than the busy main street).

Highly recommended.
