“Possibly the Greatest Experiences Earth has to Offer”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2011

The Sabi Sands is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and astonishing places on Earth, and Little Bush Camp is one of the best camps in it. The staff were friendly, the place immaculate, and the food extremely good (exceptional, when one considers that this is taking place in the bush).

The wildlife is incredible. In our two nights there we saw 4 leopards, and from the radio transmissions on the vehicle it was clear that we could have seen over a dozen had the driver wanted! Other than the incomparable leopard sightings, highlights of the trip included wild-dogs hunting (at one stage we saw them snapping at a leopard in a tree!) and magnificent male lions on a Buffalo kill.

Could not recommend this place enough. Granted, it is quite pricey. But when I compare the experience to what I would get in Europe, or even America, the cost is instantly put in perspective. In Italy recently I remarked that the cost of our two nights at Little Bush Camp was the same as two nights on the Amalfi coast, and there is just no competition. Let’s be honest, whilst Amalfi is a pleasant and beautiful vacation –it is often difficult and uncomfortable, as travelling in Europe tends to be. By comparison, the vacation we had at Sabi Sands – in possibly the most glorious setting on Earth – was pure luxury, comfort and excitement. I couldn’t believe, having done the calculation, that the two vacations cost the same.

Could not POSSIBLY recommend this place enough. It is a life highlight that no avid traveler should miss.

Room Tip: Every room is magnificent! But rooms 4-7 are a good balance of privacy and convenience. Seriously th...

“Awessome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2011

Words do not do justice to our experience at Sabi Sabi. We all describe our two days there as the best two days of holiday in our lives. Richard and Fred were awesome rangers, assisted by excellent trackers and fantastic lodge staff.

The animals were amazing. We saw more leopard than we had imagined possible. The rhinos were magnificient, and the baby rhinos positively cute.

The food at Sabi Sabi was top quality and top quantity. Indeed, we all felt larger than an elephant after just two days; pre-drive snack, breakfast, lunch, high tea, sun downers and dinner. We all felt stuffed but could not stop eating it was so good.

A highlight our stay combined food and animals. The staff set up a beautiful dinner in the dry river bed. Unfortunately, we could not eat there after a herd of elephant came down the river. I have a great image of Richard and Fred standing guard with rifles while the staff moved everything to a safer location. I have another of an elephant just metres from my balcony.

It is expensve to stay here but worth every penny. We stayed at another moe expensive and luxurious reserve after the Sabi Sab Little Bush camp. It did not compare!

“Wow! What an experience.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

From the first minute you arrive the management and staff at this camp go out of their way to make you comfortable and welcome. The accommodation is first rate, the food wonderful and the ranger (Solomon) and tracker (Voster) were a wealth of knowledge and great fun. Cannot recommend this experience highly enough!

“Luxury in the Bush”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 July 2011

Having recently returned from Little Bush Camp and wanted to commend Hugo and his staff on a wonderful property in beautiful surroundings. From arrival to departure, all your wants and needs are tastefully attended to by a warm and friendly staff who go out of their way to assure your stay is wonderful. As a travel agent, I have very discriminating taste. I had the opportunity to tour all 4 Sabi sabi properties and must say that they all are lovely with different environments to appeal to virtually any traveler.
My husband and I found the Little Bush Camp room beautifully appointed and equipped . The staff and food exceptional. Our twice daily drives assured us of seeing and experiencing so much more than the Big Five. This was a great way to end our safari experience.
For those who can afford this luxurious property, you will not be disappointed.

“Just being there - extraordinary!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 July 2011

We went to Sabi Sabi with no expectations of what we'd see - and they were all exceeded! We deliberately avoided writing a list of 'must sees' - especially the 'Big Five'. Instead, we resolved to just delight in being in the 'lower bushveldt' that each of us had been watching for decades on television nature programs - whatever we saw would be a delight. In the event, we saw the 'Big Five' and so much more. We saw six different leopards and watched one kill an impala; we saw nineteen rhinos over our stay; we saw a pride of six lionesses and ten cubs on three separate occasions; we sat amongst a dozen elephants while they ate; we saw a hippo rolling over in the water in joy; we saw a porcupine and a serval; we saw all of the area's antelope species; we saw zebras, giraffes and mongooses; and we saw dozens of bird species, including eagles, vultures, hornbills and sunbirds.

Much of our 'good luck' was, in fact, created by our ranger/guide Alistair and our tracker Solly - a personable team who put their formidable professional knowledge and skills at guests' disposal on the twice-daily three-hour game drives. Their understanding, excitement and respect for the intricate bushveldt 'eco system' impressed even the occasional jaded guest; and Solly runs a mean bar and café at break times! Back at the lodge, the staff looked after us impeccably. In particular, chef Shadrack presented his world class cuisine with style and grace; Michael, Calvin, Mumsie and Goodness were attentive but not intrusive; and 'the ladies' kept our room impeccably clean and tidy.

We took some photos, obviously, but it's easy to become so obsessed with 'finding 'shots' that you miss the extraordinary experience of just being there. A comprehensive photographic record can remind you of what you saw, it can't recreate the moment. One guest was so absorbed in preparing to take a video of a leopard kill that they missed it! So our advice is - keep the snaps to a minimum and just concentrate on being there.

Lodge Manager Hugo said that he always looks for the negatives in reviews, so for you, Hugo, here it is - our six-night stay was nowhere near long enough!

Room Tip: The choice of room is immaterial - each is surrounded by bush and birds and a short walk from the ce...
