Toilet handle chain/flapper was broken when we arrived. Impossible to flush. Hard to believe someone had just cleaned it and didn't notice. They sent someone to fix it, but not properly. It was still very hard to flush. Second day, toilet had a "sanitized" wrapper around it, but there was a big hair (not mine!) on the seat when I opened it. Rooms are tiny by today's standards. A/C-Heater unit is right next to the desk, so the air is blowing in your face while you are trying to talk on the phone. Noise from upstairs room was horrible...worst I've ever experienced in a motel. At first we thought maybe kids were jumping on the beds, but that was not the case. This a very old building and every time the guests upstairs would simply walk across the floor, our room would literally shake (you could see items on the dresser moving...I'm not kidding!). Hair dryer and/or A/C outlet was intermittently broken. It would work about 15 seconds, then shut off. I could sometimes get it to work by resetting the outlet breaker multiple times, but not always. The front desk insisted that they fixed it, but they didn't. The alarm clock was plugged into an outlet that was connected to a wall switch, so I thought the clock was broken at first. I kept having to reset it til I realized what was going on...what a pain. On the third night, my key card stopped working. I told them at the front desk and they argued with me that I was inserting it wrong. I wasn't...I'd already been there 3 nights and had already mastered the key card ;) Eventually the person who claimed to be the owner started getting an attitude with me. Didn't appreciate that at all. All my complaints/problems were legitimate. Never once got an apology either. Also, I asked the front desk if I could check out a day early without penalty. I was told they "could not do anything to help me since I reserved online" and to "take it up with them". So I called Super 8's main phone and they were very helpful and assured me that if I checked out a day early, I would not be charged since I stayed at least one night. Also note, the lobby area is very cramped for a breakfast area. It's almost not even practical. No where to sit, plus it got dirty very fast...garbage can was overflowing right beneath the food bar...ugh. Next time, I'll make sure I stay at the nice, new clean Motel 6 with pool/hot tub just down the street. I could have gotten 2 Queen suite with sofa area for the same price if I had only reserved 2 days earlier! I waited too late and all their rooms were gone though...so I got stuck at the not-so-Super 8 :(

We had a really Great night sleep here. The Gentleman at the front desk was VERY Polite!! The room was in Excellent shape. No problems checking in or out. Would Recommend staying here!!

We were booked with a small group of seniors (not the high school variety) into the Super 8. It will provide good shelter but little else. The lobby is very small accommodating only 5-6 people comfortably with only one chair. Their continental breakfast is not worthwhile. We found another place to eat. There are picnic tables available outside. My room was on the lower floor which was partially underground. The hallway was darker than it should have been and the carpet should be replaced.

The room accommodations were clean but crowded. Our mattress was old and had it’s better days years ago. The bed linens were clean but limp.

Although I didn’t measure it, the TV was the old 21” variety placed on a short table in the corner of the room. Forget about watching TV from the bed across the room.

The bathroom with a useable floor space of 4’ X 5’ was clean with plenty of towels.

When returning to Ruidoso, I will be careful to skip this property.

This place is obviously a little cheaper in price than some other hotels. I will say that this Super 8 will make me wary of any other Super 8's in America. This is an old, worn out place. The security is outdated. The worst thing is that there is a lot of noise, especially if you are downstairs. The price should be ok, but it was a little too high during the weekend that we went. Not a total dump, but really lacking in nice touches.
