Comfortable all around: new beds, linens, pillows; big TV, updated bath, variable shower head, widened shower curtain, ironing board, blowdryer, good temp control; guest laundry room, indoor pool, convenient location and free parking. We had rooms that were renovated. The breakfast was warm and varied (waffles, scrambled eggs, yogurt, bacon, cereal, juices, milk, coffees, pastries, fruit), only grief: if you get there a little later, they won't have any more bacon.

Stayed at this hotel many times over the years. Will never go back. Why? Change of management that is driving this hotel into the ground. The manager (Valarie Bartlett) was non-existent to discuss numerous problems encountered during my stay. Temporary desk clerk got her on the phone, per my request, but she refused to speak to me. I travel a lot and have stayed at all kinds of hotels, from the Fairmont to a Holiday Inn Express. This was the worst. Lobby appears neat and clean, good breakfast buffet. However, the carpets leading down the hallways and into the rooms are filthy. Once inside the room, bath linens were in short supply and clearly worn through. The pillows were old and in need of replacing. Pulled back the bottom fitted sheet to find that the mattress pad had not been washed: pubic hair, stains and some sort of small black particulate (looked like coffee grounds but could have been bugs, I didn't have a magnifying glass) in several spots. Several knobs on the T.V. were broken. The hotel was out of caffeinated coffee for the room. The toilet broke after three days, staff could not fix it, so we moved to the Inn of the Moutain Gods...and stayed there for less! Apparently, we were charged a high price for an "in town" hotel because of the Cowboy Symposium. I am told that the owner of this hotel also owns several other hotels in town. Cabins for rent are in abundance. Maybe I'll try renting one of those on my next visit.

Upon arriving we were given a room with a TV that was not working and a bathroom light that blinked on and off. After asking if we could relocate to a different room the GM was happy to accommodate our request.
We picked this hotel because the location and amenities offered to our children as well as ourselves. When researching local hotels for our trip we chose Comfort Inn because of the sauna. To say the least we were highly disappointed to find the sauna out of order. It appeared to look as if was being used for a storage closet. When we asked how long it had been out of order they told us for over a year! My suggestion is that if you are not going to repair the sauna to take it off of your list of amenities.
We also had several pending transactions on our account that we used to pay for the room. We had one complete total and three others that totaled the cost. It took three days for these charges to straighten out.
Overall our stay was clean, comfortable and enjoyable. The morning breakfast was delicious and had something to offer all of us. The location which was within walking distance to all the shops was perfect. Ruidoso will definitely be a part our families yearly vacation destinations, just maybe not at Comfort Inn again.

I had a great experience at the hotel. The property is clean, all the necessary amenities are present, and the service was superb. I did have a minor problem with my reservation (entirely my mistake), but after I explained the situation to the management, I've been reimbursed. Very considerate and kind manager! Will stay again.
