“Good Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2010

I stayed there when it was hard to find a motel in Raton. The other motels -not American run- had jacked up their prices. I was pleasantly surprised to find the Motel6, which was pleasant and clean. The woman desk clerk was very pleasant and friendly. My room did not have internet -you have to ask for it. But otherwise was great. No frills, but good value. Room was clean. Had a good sleep.

“Ok as a stopover”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 June 2010 via mobile

Stayed here just for the night arrived about 9pm, the girl on the desk was not especially pleasant but she was efficient. The room was clean and I slept undisturbed. The next morning the toilet inexplicably flushed while I was taking a dump but luckily I was about to shower so it was not too annoying. After the shower the maid opened the room door while I was in my boxers but appologised and shut the door - this was probably my fault as I had not latched the door.

Fair enough place for a low priced nights sleep.

“Suited me”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 May 2009

Stayed for one night. Room was clean and well maintained...enough room. Had a microwave and fridge which suited me as I carry my own coffee kit so no coffee maker in the room didn't bother me. all in all it was a good stay.

“No raves - wrecked my computer!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 February 2009

So this motel is supposedly 2 years old, but looks much older! I suppose it's due to using cheapo materials. Room was clean enough, but very spartan. As in no coffee in room, which really bugs me! Supposedly there was coffee in lobby, yet it was not to be seen.

I "splurged" on the $3.00 charge for wireless access, and it completely froze my trusty macbook - I don't know what the problem was, but felt complaining to the girl at the front desk would be pointless.

Whatever. The one good thing about the place is that pets were allowed with no charge - very nice of them - and they didn't even put us in a "doggy" room (you know, one that smell as if a herd of labs has been cavorting in it?).

“Very basic, but it's only $50”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 June 2008

I had never stayed at a Motel 6 before and was a bit reluctant, having heard some negative things about it. But we didn't feel like spending a lot of money and we wanted to bring our dog, so we decided to try it. It is much more basic than the typical motel room so it was missing some things that most other chains have--there was no hair dryer (which I didn't care about since I don't use one), no coffee maker (didn't care about that either), and no ironing board, but for an extra $3 a night you can get a room with a refrigerator. The room was average size with two double beds. The bureau had cubbyholes for clothing instead of drawers. There was just a shower, no bathtub, which wasn't an issue for me. The only issue I did have is there are no clocks in the room, which I did find very strange. I think there was an alarm in the TV, but I prefer a clock. There were also no "do not disturb" signs. We often don't want anyone in the room if we're just there for two nights. I went to the office and the woman there was very nice and said they didn't have any signs, but she'd make sure that housekeeping didn't come in (they didn't). The towels were typical motel towels--very small and thin--but I had expected that and brought a bath towel.

The room was relatively clean. The location is just outside the center of town and just off the highway, but our room was in the back so we didn't hear much noise. There is an outdoor pool and there's a diner next door if you don't want to go into town for breakfast. Overall, even though it doesn't have the usual amenities, for the $50 price (and no fee for pets), you are getting pretty much what you pay for. I might stay at a Motel 6 again if it were just for one or two nights, but probably not for longer.
