I had never stayed at a Motel 6 before and was a bit reluctant, having heard some negative things about it. But we didn't feel like spending a lot of money and we wanted to bring our dog, so we decided to try it. It is much more basic than the typical motel room so it was missing some things that most other chains have--there was no hair dryer (which I didn't care about since I don't use one), no coffee maker (didn't care about that either), and no ironing board, but for an extra $3 a night you can get a room with a refrigerator. The room was average size with two double beds. The bureau had cubbyholes for clothing instead of drawers. There was just a shower, no bathtub, which wasn't an issue for me. The only issue I did have is there are no clocks in the room, which I did find very strange. I think there was an alarm in the TV, but I prefer a clock. There were also no "do not disturb" signs. We often don't want anyone in the room if we're just there for two nights. I went to the office and the woman there was very nice and said they didn't have any signs, but she'd make sure that housekeeping didn't come in (they didn't). The towels were typical motel towels--very small and thin--but I had expected that and brought a bath towel.
The room was relatively clean. The location is just outside the center of town and just off the highway, but our room was in the back so we didn't hear much noise. There is an outdoor pool and there's a diner next door if you don't want to go into town for breakfast. Overall, even though it doesn't have the usual amenities, for the $50 price (and no fee for pets), you are getting pretty much what you pay for. I might stay at a Motel 6 again if it were just for one or two nights, but probably not for longer.
